Probably wanted to be in an environment where it is ok to bitch about your engine.

According to Autosport Red Bull are likely to split with Renault at the end of 2015, picking up Lotus' supply of Mercedes engines when they get acquired by Renault. That situation is easier said than done as Mercedes' board are split on supplying Red Bull and Williams (who have a premium contract with Mercedes) will have a say in the decision.

I know Renault has done a poor job these last couple of seasons but Red Bull have put themselves in a very precarious position.

Yes they have, but I get the feeling its by design. They can't have been stupid enough to put themselves into this position and be surprised by it......could they?

Something else I've wondered about, could Renault & Honda possibly junk their engines & use Mecachrome and Mugen to redesign a completely new engine and enter with a re branded engine? They would after all be considered to be a new manufacturer would they not?

Well judging by the reports on the revised Honda engine being used from this weekend, the 3 tokens used basically allowed Honda to almost completely redesign most of the engine internals. So how much time for a redesign? Not much needed really.

3 tokens? I thought you needed more than what the other manufacturers had to redesign everything.
That's only the design though, need to test it and shit.

I doubt it's possible

I hope for their sake that isn't true.

More engine news, involving Renault and the purchase of a team. The twist is that it's not Lotus.

So Force India's debts are lower than that of Lotus?

Lotus' cars were nearly impounded, so I guess so?

It is just standard due diligence being done by Renault. There's nothing in the article that suggests Force India are under serious consideration. The smart money will still be on a Lotus takeover, with Toro Rosso and Force India being 'evaluated' in case something goes awry. The court case will unlikely make any difference.

Lotus sale to Renault likely to happen next week - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/120532

Renault would obtain 65% stake in the team, Lopez would retain 25% and Alain Prost would take the remaining 10%.

More competition is always a good thing.

Well haven't Renault been saying since late 2014 / early 2015 that they would be saving their development tokens for 2016?

There seems to be a few drivers rumoured to be in contention for drives. Grosjean is probably a given but Perez appears to be a serious contender, even though Force India want to keep him and Hulkenberg.

Perez is a great addition as he also brings money

Red Bull demands priority by Renault so if they start a new operation maybe they can release the engine contract from Red Bull and get Mercedes engines

Can Mercedes block this 'swapping/selling' of contracts?

Shouldn't both Sauber drivers be "confirmed but who knows?"
