90's as fuck. Was watching the 1995 British Grand Prix earlier on Iplayer and the mount of abandoned cars was hilarious.

But yeah it seems to be the norm now, just throw a red so they can recover the car without worry.

This. Agreed Jason. Then again I rarely get chance to watch FPs so I'm probably behind the times somewhat.

Still seems overkill though. I wonder if not having spare / third cars, engine rules, etc... has anything to do with it?

I predict FIA will have that corner tarmacked by next year. Reason: possible risk of race ending mistake and that fans like it. :roll:
