Preparations have started

From the start of getting the track setup for the Gp, it takes 10 weeks total.

I know, but now the teams' stuff is actually on track.

It will be in 2030 or so when we're bitching about how shitty the hover f1 series is and are nostalgic for 4 wheels on ground racing

Sauber could be in deep shit if the Australian court judges in Giedo's advantage.

Yes, that's how we, humans, are

Fish88, is it really Australian jurisdiction on such matter?

If so, it will be fun who will drive the(first? second?)Sauber based on each country's legal view on it :D

Is Manor really making it? :( Q1 would be more fun without them

I thought hover technology is something of the past?

so if he fails he'll try to do the same with a malaysian court to secure a spot at Sepang, and so on until he finally drives it?

Technically, he's already won, he just needs the court in Australia to enforce it.

And then, yes, the court in Malaysia and the court in Bahrain (oh boy) and so on, at least until the judgement is upheld worldwide.

EXCITED for this race: first of the season, nice line-up, many uncertainties, traditional location for the opener... and of course, gravel! grass! concrete walls and fences!

Was it a mechanical failure? It does make sense, it's just that I remember reading he overdid it and locked up the rears.

It was a mechanical failure, the brake disc exploded. The Williams team knew they were going to have issues in the race throughout the weekend. The brake caliper was too small to fit the correct sized disc. So to reduce the wear they had Frentzen run one more pit stop than the other teams. But it wasn't enough. It is explained in the 1997 season review.

Heh after all these years....

It was definitely a brake failure. While Harry Heinz underachieved massively in his Williams years, this wasn't his fault.

In other news Mansell stalled his Williams while waving to the crowd In Canada 1991
