Possibly, don't quote me on this, marvellous ... although Tiempo.com are now saying rain for Thursday and more or less Scorchio for the rest of the weekend, with a few appearances from Nimbo Cumulos.

I'm not sure a Colombian website is an accurate source for weather in Catalunya.

http://www.meteo.cat/servmet/prediccio/ ... ntal5.html says low chances of rain.

The Tiempo.com I'm using is registered in Murcia, and along with its sister sites 9Germany, Portugal) seems pretty European, but well, now we have more potentially accurate sources of weekend meteorologicos ... Chris Waddle.

Every team will get an extra set of hard tyres for practice. Initially the plan was to be to have the extra set for the younger drivers/rookies but the top teams got pissy and rejected that idea.

Don't know if they will keep providing extra set of hards for all other GP weekends but, for Barcelona, it must be because Pirelli now dumped the hard compound that was used on the first GPs and is bringing a harder one in order to allow for more tactical variations.

So, this extra set must be for the teams to familiarize with it a bit more as it's a tire they didn't test this year

something that I never quite understand is how they can manage to pull off a one stopper at monaco with the super soft and the soft. Given all those laps and all those corners, you'd imagine the tyres are broken after 10 laps.

The only thing I can think of is simply the speed difference compared to other tracks.

I remember 2009, the softs were really marginal, the race was a two or three stopper - but of course that was also with refuelling, but I think the tyres were giving up pretty quickly as well. Vettel encountered problems with his running out, Rubens didn't make them last as well as Button and lost a lot of time compared to him.

So, Mercedes' new livery seems to be a slightly, almost unnoticeable, different silver and a slightly larger Merc logo

I'd guess it is something to do with constantly lower cornering speeds, circuit not as abrasive, cooler European temperatures, plus some other factors.

It sounds a bit Captain Obvious here but the race is also shorter in distance than the others, so that helps.

Wouldn't have noticed that, and in fact still can't really observe the differences unless I seek a comparison shot, which frankly seems like a bad effort to gain ratio for someone in my position ... I'm out.

Only on Friday ;) 18-19 degrees during the rest of the weekend, not exactly warm circumstances for this time of year in Spain...
