Makes qualifying fairly meaningless when over a quarter of the grid have penalties

The teams should agree to all take a new engine and a 20 grid penalty at the same weekend, just to point out the stupidity of this rule. Qualifying happens like usual, but everyone has a fresh engine.

Was there meant to be any rain this weekend? Would be nice to see a bit more on Sunday.

the problem is one team will leapfrog the others and don't change the engine

any reason besides cheating for the Aston Martins to show some performance this weekend?

Low fuel?

I find it funny that Mercedes has been hyping this race up since new rules would “proof” Ferrari and Red Bull where cheating and they would be much closer now but are still struggling

Mercedes might be working their race setup a bit more, as conditions might improve and tires have better working temps

Neither Red Bull nor Ferrari have brought along new floor parts this weekend, which means that their existing floors must be legal.

And, of course, there is no need for Verstappen (or Leclerc) to spend any time on qualifying trim as qualifying is irrelevant to them.

Assuming he makes it through lap 1 without breaking anything, I think Max wins.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I don't think I'd ever bet on a race winning car/team based on Friday performance alone

Teams deliberately run low power modes/race setups/high fuel/sensor rakes and whatever else, chasing laptimes is a fools errand these days, especially with so little testing

I only really believe the top teams turn it right up for Q3 and nothing else. And with Max and Charles heading to the back, will they even bother?

This team is always good at Spa for some reason, has been since the Jordan days

Qualifying starts only at 16.00. Why is that? In Francorchamps, with the random weather, I´d start at 13.00 to have a maximum window when the rain comes.

This is going to be a reverse grid race at this rate with the penalties

Gonna miss the qualifying, but given how we already know that it's either Sainz or Perez on pole, it's not a big deal. F2 should be eventful since I'm not watching it (jinx jinx jinx).
