Well, that certainly wasn't what I was expecting when I booted up the FP2 stream.

Wowie.

Was there any footage of Michael Schumacher's testing accident in the early 00's at the same spot as Ericsson? I would imagine it was a pretty massive one as well.

James Courtney had by all accounts the mother of all accidents in the Jaguar also at Monza in the early 00's which sounded similar, minus the rolls. Would have been interesting to have footage of that.

One side of the halo was marked up during the incident, was that because of a tyre striking it or because it dug into the grass?

Because it dug into the grass, you can see that from the camera that's on the runoff road.

That looks like dirt. I don't think the tyres can get that far back thanks to the tethers.

Yeaa, the wheel tethers really did their job there. Who knows where the wheels would have gone without them.

Parabolica needs desperately some patch of grass to stop exploitation

Yes you fuckwits on Sky, Mr Schumacher hit the wall without a Tarmac runoff because the runoff is now twice the size it was back in 2005, Seb not hitting the wall has nothing to do with there being a Tarmac runoff there now....

Holy shit that rollover was brutal. Must've felt like hitting 3 walls separately.

It's amazing how things can go south very quickly. When you see them making the braking it feels all easy and under control, but the slightest failure and all hell breaks loose.

wow, a really big one in F1... amazing somehow it can still happen.

I am not an engineer, but I do find it a bit weird that because DRS didn't close, the car just went left into the barrier. I would imagine you would not make the turn, but not going into the barriers at that point.
