I'd prefer that to just having double points for one race, but yeah, both ideas are dumb.

Two possible headlines for ~10.5 months from now

- Ze double pointz zey do nothing......
- Fans crown rightfull champion by keeping normal points score. Trophy funded by kickstarter.

Perhaps as leverage?

"You want to scrap the double points idea? Well I want double points in the final 3 races, so let's walk the path in the middle and keep the double points in the last race."

It's sad that his career was effectively ended back then, but at the same time, he was very lucky to survive at all, let alone race again. Judging by what Dr Hartstein has said recently, he only had about a 10% chance of surviving when they got him to the hospital

Do you have a source for this announcement, by the way? I've tried searching and can't find anything

It was on his Facebook page:

2013 was a very special year for me! For the first time since 2006, I can say I do not miss racing anymore! I'm doing just fine working in a totally different business! It wasn't easy to learn and to get used to all this. But as I am working with my brothers, I had a bit less pressure but it was still hard. HARD! Today it's like being in a team working to win and to get better every day! It's like being in a team that is going for the champioship! You grow up and you get better! Is that fun or what?!

For all the good Bernie has done for the sport (I do believe that he genuinely cares about F1), he has always made decisions that benefit Bernie first and the sport second. He has set up a structure that is "what's good for Bernie is good for F1" and it has been hard to fault in the past. Yet the point in time has been reached where everyone needs to say "Bernie just FUCK OFF"

He, it seems, only cares about appeasing one stake holder, CVC, a god damn investment company. For the life of me I still can't fathom after all these years how basically a hedge fund controls F1. The commercial rights should be run under an arm of the governing body not an investment group, who only want to increase the value of their future holdings, to either off load in the future for a profit, or to reap dividends for their shareholders, not for the wholesale betterment of F1 and motorsport in general.

So I will say this. "BERNIE JUST FUCK OFF"

McLaren has unveiled their 2014 teamwear and there's no title sponsor.

Lotus has done a deal with Saxo Bank, 'Saxo Bank gains unique access to Lotus F1 Team’s portfolio of partners including Microsoft, Clear and Rexona from Unilever and The Coca-Cola Company. The Lotus F1 Team brand will also be harnessed through Saxo Bank’s promotions.'

if that teamwear is anything to go by, it looks like a reintroduction of the West-liveried McLaren.

I doubt McLaren will have a title sponsor, simply too late if they have started producing the teamwear.

As for VDG, what a shame. With his stunning qualifying performances, he should have stayed for this year.

about the double points rule, fans are all against that, why can't they see that's not good for the sport?

I don't see why people assume McLaren will have no title sponsor on the basis of some team wear renders. McLaren are merely accepting pre-orders for items that are not the finished article. That is pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I dunno, I'd be very surprised if they're going to announce a title sponsor now. This isn't something they just do at the launch. This is going to look like the 2006 car, with Honda probably being the main sponsor next year
