Contracts mean jack shit. I can see them switch to Mercedes.

Force India will go to Ferrari, STR to Renault so there is space for Williams.

Williams deal with Renault was for 2012 and 2013 I think...

Well come 2014 or 2014, McLaren will have another engine supplier, Force India will have Ferrari and Sauber will most probably be back with Mercedes, which means there's still a third engine supply available for Mercedes... With Wolff being a major shareholder and with Bottas being firmly groomed this could help Williams become part of the Mercedes family. And by that I mean they'll have Mercedes power and be used to field Mercedes development drivers.

Mclaren should buy Cosworth and build their own engine IMO.

Yes then that would give McLaren more of an opportunity to show how unreliable they can make things.

McLaren must just redesign their V8 twin turbo from the MP4/12C, take out 2 cilinders, one turbo and reduce displacement to half and then you'll see the worst turbo engine in F1 since Motori Moderni

I never understood why Glock was earning so much money at Marussia.

For the same reason as Kova and Trulli were at Caterham I would expect. A top'ish driver with good technical development skills and marketable value could help drive the team up the grid.

Pretty much. But in this climate, a driver with money is preferable. Nowadays, you rarely get crap drivers with money - moreover, the drivers come with money. Such as at Caterham where they preferred Petrov to Trulli - if you're going to spend all year at the back, then take the money. Petrov may not be as good as Trulli, but he's a very competent racer.

Also, Force India's car launch press release says 'Media sessions in the wing will commence with drivers and senior management taking part in a Q&A on stage'

Use of a plural there. I'm sure that's not be accident, so it suggests they're close.

That is true, but I almost feel as if Glock was happy to take the money and tool around at the back. Either that, or Pic was far better than I'm giving him credit for.

I suppose after 3 seasons at the back, you would start to lose motivation.

Pic did a good job and was highly impressive throughout 2012, but so did Glock over the past three years and he's not given credit that he deserves. Glock was supposedly given lesser equipment to work with and less than preferential treatment at time by the team, which gave the impression he was slower than he was. But don't forget, once Glock got the update at Spa he was the closely challenger to the Caterham pair.

Was that purely for financial reasons? Giving your less experienced and less proven driver better equipment makes no sense otherwise. Also seems to defeat the point of paying Glock a salary, if the financial situation was so bad would have been better getting a pay driver in (as they probably are doing now).

I think both Caterham and Marussia have realised that the financial perils of F1 are far greater than they anticipated and - with initially expensive regulations in 2014 - are probably abandoning 2013 for 2014. Why bother paying Kovalainen/Glock for not scoring points when you could get a hell of a lot of money from someone doing a slightly less capable job.

I never actually understood why did he go there. He could have drove for Lotus F1 today, but he wanted a backarker :o

At the end of 2009, Renault was very close to pulling the plug on F1 and it looked very uncertain. Meanwhile, Virgin was about to be bankrolling a new F1 team. Hindsight is a wonderful medium.

Dieter Rencken confirms what Bild said on Saturday; di Resta and Sutil are the drivers, but a change of ownership could mean that di Resta is dumped for money, as Sutil already brings his own.

You would think that at some point these teams would learn.

Both had entries confirmed under the original budget cap plans, only for those plans to be dropped by the FIA after their entries had been accepted.
