Going by rumours, the grid will look like this:

Caterham: Pic, Valsecchi/Razia

Are Valsecchi or Razia backed up by a lot of sponsormoney?

what bugs me is that no-one had the decency to let Schumacher announce his plans before this.
If you like him or not he's still pretty much a living legend in F1 and it would show some respect if he could announce his retirement instead of "being forced" into retirement.

Mercedes hasn't officially announced anything, that will be coming later today. It is Mclaren that announced Perez official.

I saw this coming from Perez, it made just too much sense and he told Ferrari to hurry up with their decision before.

So sad for me. :tumble:

Anyone thinks Schumacher is going to continue with another team or is it confirmed that he retired?

he should retire. Coming out of retirement was wrong in the first place.

I rather see Sauber invest in Talent (like Frijns, but that is just the Dutchman talking inside me). Schumacher sure is commercially interesting for Sauber, but I don't see what Schumacher has to win with that?

It'll most likely be Alguersuari & Gutierrez.

Everyone's a winner. Lewis wins because he's out of Team Jenson, and the Mercedes cannot be anywhere near as bad as the 2009 McLaren was to begin with. Jenson wins because he can now have most of everything built around him. Sergio wins because he gets his opportunity in a bigger team. Kamui wins because it's now less likely that he will have to go to make way for a pay driver.

And Michael wins because he might get shunted up into a management role that he might actually be good at.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Alguersuari is safe. He said he would either be going to Mercedes, Sauber or Force India.
Mercedes won't take him and he and FI really don't fit together.

I still see a chance for Massa at Sauber, he would be a great teamleader there for sure and could help the team with this experience.
Gutierrez looks likely as well, Peter Sauber likes to give new drivers a chance, and there is the money from Carlos Slim.

Looks like you are right, phil.

Kamui doesn't win because Sauber now needs money.

Consider this - those saying that Lewis needed his dad back as his manager. If he had done that, he'd never have that drive. Anthony isn't very well liked in the paddock, and apparently Mercedes had a lot to do with di Resta ditching him as a manager. I doubt Lewis would've gotten that seat had Anthony been in charge.

Sauber's always needed money. Let's see how much Jaime's bringing.

Equal Number Ones doesn't work very often, as proved once again.

At least we can finally see how good Nico is, even if he will be the Number 2.

Will Buxton mentioning something we're forgetting too - Mercedes were supposedly going to pull the plug on the F1 project. Lewis essentially just saved their jobs by being the big name that they need right now.

I think the team was also fed up with Nico being shit in qualifying and Michael being shit in the races.

So, Steve Gutierrez at Sauber? One thing out of all this is that the Force India duo could be staying at Silverstone for a while to come...
