I remember being happy that the field was all bunched up, but it really backfired on him.

I haven't read the article but I guess it would be good for Bernie as it would mean...

- less teams to negotiate TV rights and prize money deals with
- less teams to share TV rights and prize money with
- more revenue for FOM
- more profit for CVC

And we're done

It is always in Bernie's interests to see teams quit, as he knows he can wring more out of the teams which come in to replace them.

Standing starts after safety cars... Ok, then why have safety cars at all? Throw that out, red flag if a situation would have dictated a safety car, re-grid and re-start.

I fail to see a difference other than losing laps needlessly only to re-start the race as if it had been stopped.

Red flag is a different situation because if it happens mid-race, it doesn't neutralize the time differences but adds them at the end of the race. Also you can work on cars etc...

Losing laps needlessly is something TV stations want, in order to avoid races becoming longer than the planned broadcast. That's the reason we've not seen an accident-caused red flag in ages, they just use safety car unless every single inch of the racetrack is not practicable.

Red flags were dropped in favour of SC periods as it helped Bernie with the TV rights, because races could continue without overrunning allotted schedule and affecting other broadcasts which occur after. The only time a red flag is flown is when there is absolutely no alternative... like Canada 2011 or Monaco 2013.

Am I the only one who would like to go to a dimension where Bernie cares about the fans and the very best interest of F1 instead of making a shitload of money?

I know there are supposed to be an infinite number of alternative dimensions, but I am absolutely 100% sure that one does not exist micha.

So you're telling me there is one where I'm banging Emma Watson, one where Hitler was the good guy, one where Danica Patrick is multiple F1, Indycar and NASCAR champion AND respected by all but not one where Bernie isn't evil?? :(

No, our Bernie is actually the good one. You wouldn't even dare to imagine a dimension with evil Bernie.

Agreed JJ. And in the dimension where you're banging Emma Watson micha, she'll most likely BE a 10 year boy, rather than just looking like one like she does in this dimension.

It continues to amaze me that 83 year old man that's currently on trial for corruption is still allowed to run the commercial side of F1.

Sow with McLaren's deal with Merc ending this year I was wondering what the longest unbroken engine/team cobo in F1 would be (Ferrari) aside. The McLaren/Merc combo is 20 years this year. I'm guessing it might be a Ford DVF related engine/team.

Because micha suggested banging Emma Watson?! That's a little harsh don't you think?

I think it's for the 10 year old boy comment.

I sort of understand what B.E means about not being worried if lower teams who can't afford to stick around drop out. It's the highest form of motorsport in the world. If it was cheap and easy everyone would be doing it.

There was a time almost everyone WAS doing it. Fuck, in 1989 we had 20 teams and 38 cars total. And in the 50's, 60's and 70's we saw teams showing up for select races only. And back then it also claimed to be the highest form of motorsport.

Maybe if F1 stops being such an elitist prick we can go back to the days where the smaller teams actually could survive and maybe eve cause a surprise time to time.

The show will not get better if there are only a handfull of teams running 3, 4 or maybe eventually 5 cars. They must find a way to fix things before it's too late.
