I've got used to the stepped noses anyway. I wonder if the new rule might help McLaren and Marussia because they never went for the stepped nose.

Bit of a worrying trend.

In 1998, the X-wings were banned mainly because of their looks. Tyrrell just gave them a good scapegoat at Imola with a failed pitstop.

Both decisions are good, if you ask me.

I thought the X-wings were banned after Jordan copied them and they looked decidedly less stable.

It would be hypocritical if it were true, seeing as the Honda's 2008 elephant wings were cleared.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Hallelujah

I was hoping the teams would be phasing them out anyway due to the fact the Mclaren doesn't have them and if they hadn't gone the wrong way on set up they might well have been 2012's dominant team, so everyone would copy their design...

But it's great that the FIA are thinking like this imo.
The look of the cars is very important to the casual fan and, while I doubt many switched off due to them, anything that makes the cars look less ugly is a good thing.

These horrendous horns the Sauber's had on their nosecones at Magny Cours in 2006 were also banned for optical...I mean "safety" reasons.

According to Tom Cary of the Telegraph, Lewis is off to Mercedes.

Both the Telegraph and Mail have put up stories, and Legard has also Tweeted it.

EDIT: Telegraph also reports that Sergio is off to McLaren. Up yours Ferrari.

Well well.

It's up to Lewis now to make this move work, because I think there'll be more negative reaction than positive and he's a driver who, for some reason, gives a damn what people think about him.

Personally I don't think there'll be instant success but as long as he realises that and plays the long game it could come off for him.

Happiest person in all this now must be Jenson, Mclaren is finally his team.

If Schumi does end up retiring again i'd love to see him win 1 more race before the end of the year as it would be a real shame for someone that was as good as he was to have come back & only got 1 podium & a pole that he isn't even credited with.

As to Lewis going to McLaren, I think its now where we get to see just how good Lewis can be. If he does move to Mercedes he'll be leaving his comfort zone & moving away from everything/everyone he's known in racing since he was about 10 years old. Seeing how he handles been in a totally new environment will be intresting & could actually end up making him stronger.

McLaren going with Perez would be a good choice, Di Resta woudn't be a bad pick either. However I'd actually love to see them go with Timo Glock, He's been stuck at the back for 3 years & I think he really deserve's a shot at a top team.

I did read somewhere, though it might just be an article that just pontificated about random thoughts that he might end up at Sauber.

I love silly silly seasons.

I think he record stands up either way. A massive talent with a few reckless moments.
3 years of pleasure cruising just because he'd earnt the right to isn't going to change that imo.

Hamilton has also chosen a year with such little driver movement in the top teams that all eyes will be on him in 2013.
Only he will know if that'll inspire him to great things or add extra pressure.

He was seen having a meeting with Sauber executives at Singapore. 2 plus 2 equals 1,000,000 but I'd like to see it happen.

I would venture to say that Ferrari has already signed contract with Vettel for 2014 and beyond. Given that Ferrari didn't pursue Perez or Hamilton and are supposedly re-signing Massa to a one year deal.

Seems like every year the FIA bans something car development related, (E.G. F-duct, exhaust diffusers, and now double drs) give them a break.

Apparently Perez' father has confirmed his son is going to McLaren.

Wow so Hamilton is actually leaving Mclaren it seems. I think a fresh start will be good for him. I hope Perez ends up at Mclaren hes going to be a superstar in a good car. If it's not Perez I hope Paul gets it.
