I think it's a money issue. Alonso wants more than McLaren (and Honda) can or want to pay.

According to Autosprint Alonso is trying to combine his McLaren seat with Le Mans on the third Porsche.

I've read in a few places that McLaren will decide their lineup as part of tomorrow's AGM. That still doesn't answer the question of when the outcome will be announced...

Just noticed Jenson has been out doing promo work today. If they are dumping him tomorrow, that seems... harsh.

Perhaps. Or perhaps his contract with McLaren doesn't expire until 31st December? :p

Nothing new for him.

Besides, if he did get told to jog on tomorrow, it would be better than Alguersuari got.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

We will know today: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/117035

What's the point for McLaren's young driver program is they give young drivers one year and then skip to the next one without much preparation. Either they stick with with Ferrari does or they give their own young drivers a real chance. What's the point of having Button in his last year likely retiring a lot of races because of the new engine package? Button will become depressed and won't be much of a help developing the car if he knows that he's gonna be replaced. In the other hand, it would be character building for Kevin. If it doesn't work out, not much is lost. If they go for Button, they've lost a potential good driver who is willing to go through the hard times with the team, instead of 'adding just another year'.

Well, both him and Kevin were out with Mika in Glasgow today, and still neither of them know if they have a drive next year. I have to say, this is really unlike a team of McLaren's calibre. It has been murmured that maybe the competing interests (Alonso for Button, Boullier for Vandoorne, Dennie for KMag) are causing arguments, but who knows?

People on Twitter have been saying that an ex-champion deserves to be tweeted with more respect, but I think that applies equally to both of them. One of them has already driven their last GP for McLaren, if not full stop, and it's not like they can come to Melbourne to say goodbye.

Yeah but this isn't the first time for Jenson, is it?

I only can imagine that there issues within the team, regarding Dennis and Alonso. Alonso probably wants to race at Le Mans, too. Dennis maybe wants to keep Magnussen, while others are with Button or even Vandoorne.
Keeping Button would be good because he is a consistent driver, but Magnussen has had only one season.
I think we need to give drivers 2 or 3 seasons to prove themselves, see Ricciardo.
Difficult decision, third cars would help, but that's another controversial topic.

McLaren would love to have a 3rd car for 2015 and have those issues solved :p

McLaren have wanted Alonso for a long time, I guess the thought what to do with JB/KM never crossed their minds.

From the outside it looks like they never thought "what if we actually pull this off?" and that's getting embarrassing. Hopefully we'll get the decision this week.

Well, Alonso has followed Vandoorne on Twitter.

So you could say things are getting pretty serious.

Right.
