Vettel was easily the most impressive through t8 today,so much earlier and confident on the throttle.

Have to say I like the look from onboard this year. McLaren/Ferrari looks old school.

The good thing about SSF1 is that it'll constantly show replays of the FP's, so i can always watch a bit before going to uni.

Come on, what's Massa doing in an F1 car? Let's just bring back Ide if driving-skill doesn't matter...

Maldonado fined €400 for being 1.3km/h over the pit speed limit. Also seen a Tweet which says there's more people working for Sky Sports in Melbourne than HRT.

I always find these kind of statements very ridiculous.

RBR: engineers say the RB8 has been designed for the race performance on Sunday, not qualifying performance on Saturday. So you should not expect them having as many poles as last season (unless McLaren screw things up or a track just suits them a bit better), but during the race they will be unbeatable. Their race pace is around a second a lap faster than anyone else. So the RB8 is the opposite of the RB7 which was fastest in qualifying but not so much on Sunday.

McLaren: Their car will be the best in qualifying challenged sometimes by Mercedes and occasionally RBR, so you can expect many poles this season but their race pace is much slower than RBR and a bit slower than Mercedes. They did a RB7 approach regarding this.

Mercedes: On race day they will be second fastest behind RBR, should go for a front grid in qualifying sometimes. This car suits Schumacher a lot.

Ferrari/Lotus: they will fight with each other for 4th place in Constructors. Ferrari has an almost completely new car coming around Spain, so not just updates.

Sauber: Is a very aggressive car in race pace and the way it looks now could even mingle with the Ferrari/Lotus fight. Kobayashi is very happy with the way the car responds to his input.

Force India/Williams/Torro Rosso: top of the back-markers who will sometimes get the points Ferrari/Lotus/Sauber drop.

Thanks! I hope they're wrong about McLaren's racepace. :)

I guess we'll see how predictions pan out. But Force India's pace today was a lot more impressive than "best of the backmarkers".

But it's not like it's a one-time event is it?

As far as I know that's his normal helmet.

Interesting.

It seems if we have to sit through another year of Red Bull dominance at least they won't be grabbing poles and running away with the race in the first few laps.

It might be a bit like 2002 when the Williams would invariably qualify on pole due to superior one lap michelins but the Ferrari's would make their way past them in the opening laps and then dominate from then on.

I just please BEG Red Bull, at least do SOME passing on track, don't wait for the pit stops to move forward.....a 1 second a lap faster car+KERS+DRS must mean there'll be some on track passing....PLEASE?
