There will be no Indian Grand Prix in 2014, instead the race will be moved to March 2015 - and the fifth contracted race will be held in 2016.

I'm impressed at how someone might have actually thrown that thing onto the track. Has anyone tried throwing one of those? They are not very conductive for throwing.

depends what it's attached to.

It was probably dropped by that athletic marshal that was going for Bottas' car

Pitty, I really like the India track & have actually really enjoyed the 2 races we've had there thus far.

I have yet to watch an Indian GP. Highlights or otherwise. All I've seen is brief clips. I don't expect that to change either.

The only Tilke track I like is Malaysia (was Austria his redesign?) because it has a natural feel and flow to it, like the track designed itself. Every other on feels like they were designed on a computer and made to fit in their environment.

The Indian track to me just feels all shades of blandness.

If we forget the dodgy food connotations for a second, India always seems to be this hazy brown colour that's unappealing. Malaysia; green, fresh and lush. I actually find it quite fun to drive, albeit only on one game.

I agree, it can be quite fun to drive on a game. Some of the corners are pretty good. But various other bits are formulaic and in fact just plain lazy. I mean turns 1 and 2 are simply just turns 1 and 2 from Turkey but inverted.

It seems the best Tilke tracks have been built in the wrong places. Put Turkey in Abu Dhabi and put India in South Africa and everything would be great.

The problem I have with circuits like India or Korea are not the tracks itself, they are just built in the middle of nowhere. I mean Korea is not a bad track at all, all 3 races so far have been pretty solid in terms of action. But you have track, concrete wall and then absolutelty nothing. Same goes for India or Shanghai. Abu Dhabi for instance might not be the track layout we all waited for but the visuals are simply stunning.

I agree, but I feel with India that half of it is just meh. You have a load of flowing corners that are fairly good, but the rest of it is pretty shit.

FIA restrictions don't help either. Tilke did design that awesome German Test Track when he could do what he wanted.

As for location, F1 races are best suited in or very near to major cities. Korea is a joke, 100's miles from anywhere, takes hours just to reach the place. Events like Singapore, Austin, Montreal, they are all very close to a city, making access easy.

I found both pretty exciting, There was a decent amount of overtaking, Some nice racing, Some good scraps & some other bits of interest through the races.
I'm also quite fond of the Korea circuit & have enjoyed the races held there.

I think part of the problem India/Korea have is that there later in the season, So we've had all the crazy Tyre degredation races early on which have raised expectations so when we get towards the end & the tyres are less of an issue the racing in general is perceived as been less exciting.

In the Pre-DRS/Pirelli era, A race which the levels of overtakes both Indian Gp's have (27 in '11, 31 in '12) would have been looked at as been a good race. Same with Korea, 46 overtakes in '11, 33 in '12.

Bild reports that Ferrari offered a contract for Raikkonen, supposedly before the Hungarian GP.
