And fittingly

Quote:
The Australian Grand Prix winner's trophy will be named in honor of three-time Formula One champion Jack Brabham, who died on May 19 at the age of 88.

Brabham is the only Formula One driver to win a world title in a car he designed and built himself the rear-engine Brabham BT19 in 1966.

He is already recognized on the trophy which carries a laminated studded timber trim replica of the steering wheel from the race car that he used to win his first world title in 1959. He won the F1 world title again in 1960.

Australian Grand Prix officials made the announcement Tuesday.

A state funeral? That puts him on what is surely a very short list of F1 drivers to have been given such an honour. Apart from Senna and (possibly?) Fangio?

Just when you start to think the Haas effort is quit serious, he ruins it with these kinda answers...

Quote:
Q: Of course one inevitable question that arises when somebody sets out to build an F1 team is drivers. Who do you have in mind? Who would be your dream driver?
GH: Danica Patrick in one of our cars would be the dream driver…

Well it would bring in the sponsorship, then you can put a good driver in the other seat.

Like Marussia.

That and it just generates a buzz. He's American. They know how to create buzz. She's not only getting too old 34 in 2016 but also struggles on roadcourses and left IRL partly because of those tracks.

The reality is that we and others are talking about his team now and all he needed to do is drop a name.

Alex Rossi would be a good pick for the 2nd seat. The primary driver had better be someone who has experience developing a car.

everytime Gene Haas sees Danica all that his eyes see are $$$

besides that, he said that F1 would just be something to advertise Haas CNC, why not try an european paydriver to seek more support from Europe?

Conor Daly fits the profile. Half Irish-half American, okay in a race car. That is all that is needed.

Danica's said more than once the past few years that she's not interested in racing in F1.

She's said before that if offered the opportunity to drive an F1 in a test she'd accept it, But she's not interested beyond that.

I think the best pick would be either Conor Daly or Alex Rossi alongside someone with recent F1 experience who can lead the team & help the other driver.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Other than the fact he's gone places no American has in almost 30 years, nothing. He's not quick, he's not proven he can drive around or fix any problems in a car. Daly is better.

Alex Rossi can help to develop a car?

Haas is also seeking partnership with Ferrari, maybe they could sent Marciello to gather experience

Or Bianchi, unless Ferrari promote him to replace Kimi or Alonso

They need to get Frijns and someone else to set the car up for them. None of the Americans in the ladder are F1 ready. The only American I'd call for a race seat is Hunter-Reay because he's shown he can get it done as a professional but still he's getting up there in age.

If I was calling the shots, it'd be Frijns/Lotterer with one of Rossi/Daly/Karam as a third driver and I'd back Ferrucci in F3 with Prema and then with whoever Ferrari uses in WSbR. The last bit would have been done yesterday if I'm Haas. New Yorker in an American team with Ferrari engines? That's what gets your sponsors.

Based on what? Driving a Caterham around? One that gets worse every year, mind you.

that's what I thought. Is not only about getting mileage. But I still believe that the first Haas car will be worse than those Caterhams, so it could be a start

why not bring Bourdais back?
