The new 'bus stop' chicane sucks big time IMO.

The Bus Stop was always naff. The adding of tarmac run-off to Pouhon (and to a lesser extent Eau Rouge because you could argue safety grounds for that) though was a real shame.

Eau Rouge does need it. Remember Zonta, and to a lesser extent, Villeneuve? Although there should be a way to reduce the amount of cars that cut the top of the hill off.

Pouhon I don't have a problem with tarmac run off. But like all tarmac run off, I think there should be a 5 foot wide strip of grass, to make sure an advantage from it is almost impossible.

Yeah, I was agreeing regarding Eau Rouge. Pouhon though is a bit poor, it's taken away a lot of the challenge. And drivers don't get punished for mistakes there (and sometimes actually get an advantage by going off, i.e. Raikkonen this year).

You are right, Pouhon was much challenging in the early 90s, drive through it in GP2 simulator to clearly verify.

(Talking about Spa in Brazilian GP Thread)

To be quite honest I was rather disapointed when I saw the first races on the new Spa circuit last year. It just didn't look like the usual Spa anymore with those huge run-off areas. Spa was always something special in the past, and I won't deny that it still a great track, with less challenges however.

Just my 2 cents

well, a lot of the charm was cut away from spa (in my opinion) taking away the curved grid.

A lot of charm was cut away from F1 when Bernie decided to go to places like Bahrain and Abu Dhabi....

A driver actually died in a crash at Pouhon a few years ago partly due to the gravel trap

And one could've easily been killed in that crash earlier this year after taking a massive hit that he wouldn't have taken if the gravel were there.

Rather have a decharmed Spa than no Spa at all. Bernie has saved the Belgian GP on more than one occasion lest not forget and to be honest it needed an upgrade as does Silverstone for that matter.
