I reckon a race in Las Vegas at night would be pretty cool.

That probably true, but would be pretty soon (2:00, 3:00 am ??) at European Time, wouldn´t it?

An F1 race at Las Vegas, around 1pm would be around 8pm UK time.

if they had a night race on sunday at say 9PM local time, wouldn't europeans have to watch it at 5am on monday? :p (I calculated with a 6 hour time difference)

Long Beach was a good place for the US Grand Prix, it managed to remain in the calendar from 1976 to 1983, why was it dropped afterwards?

Couldn't it be used again, or are two racing weekends per year too much for the place (F1 and IRL)? Do other series race there?

American LeMans, Atlantics and the Toyota Celebrity race.
EDIT: Indy Lights too, starting next year.

Bernie asked too much money from the Long Beach organizers. They got CART in much cheaper price.

Chris Pook thought F1 was becoming too expensive and jumped ship to CART where it is cheaper for him to host CART races at Long Beach.

Very true, and what a sad reflection on F1 that we have to think that way - to hold the finale on a pathetic joke of a track just so that the decent tracks don't get butchered instead.

It's not about only a finale, but races in general. Just like what was done to Spa so that F1 could go back there.

What's wrong with Spa other than a little bit of extra tarmac here and there?

To me, they destroyed the bus stop.

So would you prefer that there was no GP at Spa, rather than have a remodeled Bus Stop chicance and a GP?

The bus stop was a fiddly little chicane before and its fiddly little chicane now. Had that added the bus stop to any other circuit, people would complain about that.

I don´t think EAS was talking about the last years modifications, but more about the 70-80´s remodelling ...

Exactly.

Altho I admit the old 1990s Bus Stop is slightly more fun in racing sims.

I always liked the Bus Stop chicane, because it was a great place to overtake. The new Bus Stop chicane is not as good as the previous one. You can still overtake, but it's much harder now.
