How long has Coughlan been with Williams? Not very long if I'm correct.

useless statistic

On the Sauber buy-in: I really see them being humiliated by Caterham and Marussia in every race in 2014

Yeah, useless statistic(btw, "born" is already past Lucas), but there is no way Sauber can be even near any of those teams, nevermind being humiliated by any of them

It's not useless, he's from a new generation that doesn't know firsthand that you can die in an F1 car.
Psychologically, it's a quite different approach to racing compared to drivers who watched it on TV while young or worse, those who witnessed it right there in the pits then raced a few minutes later.

People still died in Indycar, Le Mans and F2 though. Can't see the real difference in aproach tbh.

I don't see it as a positive fact to have a popular midfield team being taken over by a Russian guy with a lot of money. And one of the drivers is a young inexperienced guy who isn't there because of his talent or his money but because of his nationality. You have to be realistic and know that this "new" team is not going to be a midfield runner.

Just imagine what would have happened if that Stefanovic guy got his team a few years back. We would have had a new Moneytron/Monteverdi on our hands...instead we had HRT, which wasn't quite in the same league. Would have been lolz galore.

Sauber is being invested by three separate Russian concerns (Investment Corporation International Fund, the State Fund of Development of Northwest Russian Federation and the National Institute of Aviation Technologies), with the Sauber management board retaining complete control. So this isn't a popular midfield team being taken over by a Russian guy with a lot of money.

The control of Sauber may change over the coming years but why should that immediately be seen as a bad thing? Why is the perception that because money is coming from Russia, the end result for Sauber will be bad?

Sirotkin is a decent talent, but as he's young he has time to mature. How about we give him the benefit of the doubt? I'd kill to have been lined up for F1 by the time I was 18, instead of preparing myself for my first Formula Vauxhall Jnr races.

Well Kals, Putin seems to want to control everything Russia, and those concerns are being either state controlled or having some form of state sponsorship....so yes there IS a rich Russian guy controlling everything.

I wasn't on the forum in 2005. Was there this much bitching when Dr. Theissen turned up with his blank chequebook?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

That wasn't even a thing back then, Coughlan was hired because he was best person on the market.

And I maintain that the reason why the 2013 car is so much worse than the 2012 edition is Rubens. Hard to generate good development data when both of your drivers are in their second season.

Correct, there was not. Neither was there bitching when Alex Schnaider or Vijay Mallya came along.

I think that was due to the fact that it had been sold twice in about 2 1\2 years. Which is pretty farcial.

It is to Mallya's credit that despite all of his other problems he has not flogged Force India to the first bidder and instead found investment. Much like Kalternborn has here...

Also, it turns out that Lotus' new investors haven't actually invested yet. They jumped the gun.

Yeaa, having four different names in four seasons was pretty daft.

Oh, fuck, I forgot that Michel Mol bought it too. That's 3 times in 3 1\2 years.

And I recall reading a lot about Crapland F1. Might have been somewhere else.
