Hamilton had something like 5 separate lock-ups in the final stint and didn't seem any worse off for it.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Thank God he's leaving.

A serious puncture (albeit someone else's) ruined his race, you'd be angry too.

All drivers were 1-2 laps from failures at all times. The tyres were fucking dreadful.

Nobody was near failure, they were at a performance drop off as shown by Lewis. Perez destroyed the tyre with a 80m lock up which burned through the tread.

It always surprises me how hard they can race on the tyres in the last stint. All race they try to save them but in the end they manage to race very hard on very old tyres. I know fuel is low then, maybe they should allow 1 refuel again during the race so they can also race the tyres hard in the beginning of the race. But I think teams should quit being so cautious, just race hard and pit when the tyres go of. I'm sure it's just as fast as going slower on the tyres to make them last longer and safe an extra pitstop

Looked like pretty decent crowds in some of the grandstands for a country with virtually no motorsports heritage

Really good race behind Vettel. Worth the early start.

Where are you getting this information from?

Perez wasn't unlucky, he had a fucking huge lock up. Far bigger than anyone else.

If you can point me to a quotation of Lewis or Hulk saying 'Pirelli don't care about the drivers', or words to that effect, I shall agree.

In Webber's mind, Pirelli care as much about the drivers as he does about the marshals.

Tyres have always failed in racing. People are far too quick to get on Pirelli's back and bitch. Are they perfect? No. But so many people are aligning the design brief - tyres which wear quickly - with failures.

The time where serious failures occured - Silverstone - was the fault of the teams.

It is nice though to enjoy a race where Vettel wins so all the "You only moan about the racing because Vettel is winning" fanboys can be shown up for their ignorance :p

More of the same in Japan please. Vettel's gonna win but we can still look forward to it (And hopefully again it'll be worth getting up at 6am!)

The thing about Vettel that truely stands out to me, is that since the introduction of Pirelli he has been absolutely exceptional in his understanding and use of the tyres. He is a great driver that is wiping everybody else's arse with his knowledge and use of the tyres.

It was nip and tuck between Webber and Vettel in 2010 with the Bridgestones. Since then....daylight. One driver adapts completely, the other stuck with old habits. Simple really.

There's probably been more in 2013 than there should be, but the only major issues came in Britain. There's much more coverage of the sport now so that everything gets scrutinised a lot more. Sky Sports News just now said 'there were more tyre problems' as their main introduction - well actually, there was one problem (which in turn triggered Webber's puncture) and it was just one part of the race.

Other failures have been explained.

- I thought it was striking that post-2010, Vettel was the only top driver to stay in Abu Dhabi for the two day Pirelli tyre test after the race, rather than leave it to the reserve drivers. He then also went to Pirelli's factory, the only top driver to do so.

I'm starting to be forced to agree with you. All I've seen him do lately is moaning about others and not admitting his own mistakes. Red Bull should let Mark go and put Riccardio in their car so that he can get familiar with the team already. I think all parties would be happy with that.

Bianchi and Pic both picked up their third reprimand. Going too fast under yellows.

VDG and Chilton got their first for breaking the SC delta time.

You're free to pass the Safety Car, they said.

Catch up with the pack, they said....

GvdG and BACS (thanks for that one, Atlas!) both know that they have to remain within the delta whilst the safety car is on track, even if they've been allowed past. It's why all the safety car periods take 2-3 laps longer than they need to sort whatever the problem was out.
