Yeah I watched that press conference, he basically implied that China's figures should not be believed and if it takes hold in the rest of the world, there is nothing that will be able to be done to contain it, your best bet is to stock up on food before it hits and ride it out at home, alone, with no contact with anybody, even people saying "hello I'm from the Government and here to help" (arguable the worst nine words anybody can hear from a stranger, aside from the obvious).

yeah, regardless of how bad it really gets I cannot see this not having any effect on the season tbh.
Would be more shocked to see it being limited to China being postponed/canceled than having another GP canceled.

well, the thing is getting people nervous.

IMHO we're heading to a point where races either will get canceled and everyone complains they're overreacting or races will go on and people get infected there and everyone complains they did jack shit.

As long as everyone realises that I am going to the south of Spain in March to do jack shit on the beach, and the first that tries to stop me will not live long enough to get contaminated.

I hope prices get dropped for vacations and tickets, and no closed borders haha. People in my country are very divided, there are 2 cases, guy was in Milano on a match 5 days ago, they realized it yesterday. So he could have infected anybody, and stupid people are panicking like in Italy and buying everything. I'm well prepared wit few bottles of rakija, home made pancetta and garlic.

My previous comment was a flippant joke but after reading around, I'm inclined to think we genuinely will see some cancelled races. Even aside from Bahrain and Vietnam having cases within their countries, the impact on Italy means it's hard to see how the Italian teams will be allowed to travel to some of these countries, and you're not going to start the F1 season without Ferrari. I'm thinking back to when the British Rally Championship was cancelled in its entirety for 2001 due to the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak

I'm not worried about getting covid-19 myself but I'm concerned that a) my job will be affected (I work in public transport and there's a decent chance it'll be shut down if the virus spreads) and b) we could see most major sporting events cancelled for the rest of the year including F1, the Euros and the Olympics

and that's why you don't eat unusual livestock

I guess Ferrari will lobby to cancel the season because they got the car wrong and can use the disease as it pleases them

Vietnam hasn't had any new cases for some time now, so I can't see that one being called off (yet)

damp track in Barcelona. They should force everybody out to test the intermediates or wet weathers.

Exactly, the panic makes businesses go down, and whole tourism industry. I'm working in a touristic place in a tourism job, this is just horrible with all the panic news, and there is really no need for SUCH a panic.

To bring the attention back to testing: Racing Point seems to have done a good job. Testing pace means nothing, but I see them dominate the midfield in the first races.
Haas on the other hand looks no better than last year, and Alpha Tauri doesn't make me happy either.

Racing Point looks very good indeed. No wonder as they drive the 2019 Merc

Others have seen what the 2019 Mercedes looked like, they could have copied it as well.

Speaking of Mercedes: nobody else seems to come near that demotivating lap time that Bottas did last week. Is it because they don't want to, or because they can't?

Hamilton's conked out

They'd already lost a lot of time before with an issue

damn save those issues for the race, like if he's heading for the pit stop with a 30 second lead and the car suddenly fails to turn on again

Let's hope Mercedes do a McLaren 2005. Beautiful, very fast, but totaly unreliable.

unfortunately 2005 was more Kimi's (lack of luck) than unreliability itself

How so? The car broke down more often than not.
