You mean your favourite corner at Magny Cours was one of the hairpins?

Post subject:  Re: 2012 Random F1 Discussion

it wasn't exactly a hairpin. More of a haircurve, or a longpin.

Nurburgring + Imola chicanes were awesome (I mean, the turn name at MC!)

I preferred the second of the two fast chicanes (can't remember which one was which).

I loved that second chicane. It went down into a dip, and was still pretty quick on the exit. Magny Cours reminds me of Barcelona (minus the awful/pointless/retarded final chicane). In the fact that it's a great layout to drive, but never really produced good races. Although as Phil said, DRS + Pirelli + KERS would probably spice it up.

I remember being stunned with the super league Formula cars because they could follow each other closely through the long Imola corner...

I've not seen any racing series that could do that, even WTCC had trouble with the dirty air from the car in front! :o

Track was awesome in the wet though....

But it only rained in 1999 and 1997 :(

And 2004 practice, where Montoya tried to flip it over a barrier....

And in 2003 we had a Minardi on Provisional pole due to wet but drying First quali,.,.

Hmm, seemed to rain a lot on Fridays for Magny Cours

What the hell is going on in here? I've been waiting for Belgian Grand Prix for over three weeks and people are suddenly longing after Magny Cours now? Maybe three weekends without F1 races is way too long time to stand for the most of us? Seriously, this is one of the most exciting F1 seasons I've seen during my watch (every race since 1997 Jerez) and we should have our full focus on this season and suddenly people are talking about Magny Cours of all the tracks? I mean, it's Spa-Franchorchamps, f*cking Eau Rouge, Kemmel, Les Combers, Pouhon, Stavelot and Blanchimont coming up for us. We should have our focus over there, the best track in calendar.

Or maybe it's due the fact that we have too many Tilke-dromes that have corners named such as T8, T3 and that corner that have like quite good flow but then too wide tarmac run-offs to ruin it and so on. Sure, Magny Cours is not the worst track, but it's not the track we should be missing just one week prior the MOTHA F*CKING SPA-ON THIS MOTHA F*CKING FRANCHORCHAMPS!

Just noticed that Ant Davidson is titled 'Mercedes Development Driver' on The F1 Show.

That'd explain their 2012 problems then.

Magny Cours final chicane is cool. It's a proper chicane. The one in Barcelona is just shit.

Cool in the way that it serves no purpose other than to spread out the cars unnecessarily but give them some high curbs to vault over?

The old final sector was better.

The old final corner was amazing in that it prevented overtaking unless the driver behind went "Ah fuck this, I'm going for it" and forced his way through his opponent.

Nine times out of ten it resulted in a crash (lol Sato, lol Wurz, Lol Derek Hill in F3000 ) but the few times it did come off, it was amazing.

2007 and 2008 were quite decent as Alonso started from down the field in his Mclaren and passed a lot of cars and in 2008 Lewis decided to do the same for our enjoyment...

Yesterday, I saw Castronevers did a drive-trough penalty in 2 laps time after his collission. F1 can learn from that!

another romantic moment for F1 :beard:

Bernie Ecclestone marries for third time

Bernie Ecclestone has tied the knot for the third time. The CEO of the Formula One Group married fiancée Fabiana Flosi – marketing manager for the Brazilian Grand Prix - in a secret ceremony two weeks ago, according to The Daily Mail.

The marriage is Ecclestone’s third, having previously been married to Ivy and former Armani model Slavica, from whom he divorced in 2009.

It is believed celebrity daughters Tamara and Petra remained at home in Los Angeles and did not attend the wedding, which took place in the long-time Ecclestone holiday home of Le Lion chalet in Switzerland.

The engagement was announced in April of this year. With Ecclestone at 81 years of age and Flosi 35, there are 46 years between the couple.
