The point he's illustrating is that Piquet Jr. has a problem with Senna like Piquet Sr. did.

Referring to the article above. Showing they both have problems with Senna.

Just quoting it again for those who didn't read the article:
Nelson Piquet Jr wrote:
“Someone like Senna would not have won anything in F1 today,” he is quoted by Terra.

“He was very fast but he had no talent in terms of the technical and mechanical.”

Could be a interesting discussion here. Is there any merit in what he says? Does anybody agree with him?

Personally I think of course Senna would be a winner in f1 today. I don't see why a fast driver in the 1980's/90's wouldn't equate to being a fast driver nowadays.

Piquet has zero credibility with the majority of the motorsport world.

personally, although it's not the only factor, Schumacher is in his 40s and doesn't do so well anymore as in the past. I doubt that Senna in his fifties would be any faster than Schumacher today.

lol I don't think that's what Piquet meant.

You can't compare racing drivers of today to those of 15, 20, or more years ago. It's a different sport now, that requires different strengths. You can only really compare directly (which is what Piquet is doing) to those they did race against. Senna raced and beat some of the greatest drivers to ever grace the sport. Prost, Mansell, Lauda, Rosberg etc. If Piquet Jr is suggesting that Senna wouldn't win if he was against todays drivers, then he must consider his father to not even be good enough to get on the grid, never mind beat them.

apparently Luca di Montezemolo has been threatening with a break-away series again.

I was originally going to write something similar to this ellis as this is entirely the point. However it is in response to Nelson Angelo Piquet, who has zero credibility and zero right to make comments about the quality of other drivers. So I thought the response would be quite redundant.

You can make any comment you want about other drivers. Who really cares what he says.

What kind of drugs is NP Jr. taking? :o

Back in the day Senna spend long nights in the paddocks with his engineers, trying to find the last tenths out of the car. He wanted to know everything about his car and everything about how the settings would affect the lap time. Senna went the furthest of all the drivers with his tyre pressure, he could tell if one tyre had 0,1bar more pressure than the other and would demand to change that for his next fast lap. Senna really knew his car how fast it can go and how to get a 110% out of it, a gift that even the vast majority of F1 drivers of all times lack. If that's not a good example of technically minded driver then I don't know what is. This type of driver don't need his own perfect settings or conditions to do the absolute best and little bit more than anyone else with a car that should be outside of podium fights.

Oh wait, I'm arguing against Nelsinho Piquet...buzz off, you sorry loser! Don't ever talk about F1 again unless you're not talking about your own performance and achievements first! No one is better than Senna or will ever be.

To back this up, Coulthard said that when he was the Williams test driver in 1994, Senna had an accident in pre-season testing and tweeked his neck a little. That was him done for the weekend and DC was put in the car. Senna stuck around all day, every day, and sat in with every talk DC had with the engineers to determine if his feedback was trust worthy. Compare this to Mansell, who DC said would turn up, do some laps, then piss off to the golf course.

It's mad to say something like that about someone like Senna. Like NVirkkula said, Senna was notorious for squeezing every last drop of speed with engineers using available technology. He drove Prost nuts as he was forced to do the same to stay on the same page with Senna and show equal commitment to the team, lest they start favoring Senna more which by some accounts, did transpire eventually anyway. Just insane, you win a couple of lower rung NASCAR races putting yourself on the same level as legendary drivers like Scott Speed and you immediately start running your mouth about drivers that you wouldn't even be a pimple on their butt talent wise..

Senna had a fantastic memory about what gear and amount of revs he was using around a straight or corner and he can recall them in each lap!

basically evaluating wether or not DC was a worthy tester of his car. I guess he got the nod of approval.

That's what I see in Vettel and Alonso - the Senna aspects of their work rate. I know every driver has a huge work ethic, but from what I gather, Alonso spends an amazing amount of time training, at the factory, with the Ferrari people. Similar with Vettel - he won the 2010 title and then took part in the test two days later. He then went by himself to the Pirelli factory... it didn't do him any harm in 2011 did it?

Not really worth making a serious argument about the rantings of Nelson Piquet Jr ... but other people have already established the well known fact that Senna was a driver who set and raised the benchmark for technical feedback and dedication ...

I don't see how that video proves it. Piquet indeed had a problem with Senna all through their careers but in that particular video, if anything Piquet made a point in favor of Senna.
