apparently 2 Mercedes PUs showing issues, maybe they're trying something new and the stress tests didn't allowed much

No excuses for McLaren anymore, first it was Honda. They got better with Mercedes, but then with the new rules messed up again. If they haven't fixed that this year I don't see them returning to winning (regularly, ok monza 2020 happened) this decade.

Edit: anyone knows how to listen to f1 testing commentary on phone? Both the f1 timing and f1tv app cut the audio as soon as you lock your phone or switch to another app. Just want to listen while working and only watch when something happens.

Mercedes doesnt look too good. last season for Hamilton? Can he bring it up to do another season of catch up and hoping the 2024 car will work?

I just don't see how the compettitive order can change before the next rule change. The cars are always going to be evolutions of last year's machines so it will be hard for anyone to gain time on other team with such limited testing and a resource cap

Horner wants to cut testing to 2 days next year, you can tell they think they're gonna dominate the next few years and want to ensure no-one else can catch up

Ferrari and maybe Merc might sneak a couple of wins in wet races or the 2/3 races over the next 3 season when red bull retire, but we're well into another era of dominance RN

That's just how F1 works, long period of Dominance, 1 or maybe 2 good seasons, then a new team dominate, 'twas ever thus ;)

AMuS are reporting that Red Bull have decided that AT is not profitable and that it has to either move to England or be sold, with Andretti, Hitetch and the Mumbai Falcons interested.

more like Dieter's son decided that. Guess he cares more about $$ and less about the sport.
Watch Red Bull cut back on their soccer teams as well in the coming years.

Well it's not like AT is always up there with the main team. They're basically spending the same for vastly different performances.

Might be no where near as bad as their NASCAR foray but it's probably the same reasoning. It's not like Red Bull needs both teams to promote their brand.

plus Alpha Tauri drivers seem less likely to get promoted given Max has a very long contract and the 2nd driver is more about a reliable 2nd driver than someone young to challenge Verstappen

it used to be to give their own talent a quiet place to get to grips with F1 but that hasnt happen much lately.

Post subject:  Re: 2023 Formula One Random Discussion Thread

Yeah with Max being at RBR for a long time there's only one seat that could become available and the talk is of it going to Ricciardo in place of Perez. Or perhaps poaching Norris, there's no chance of a promotion from AT. Tsunoda's out at the end of the season either way of AT being sold or not. Albon and Gasly have gone to other teams.

Besides, hasn't AT been rumours to be up for sale for a long time now?

I've been hearing rumors since 2010, then Andretti will try to buy in the franchise and then Liberty will try their best to stop Michael from getting it

If I was a red bull development driver sitting in F4/f3, I'd wonder what the point is

They have about 10,000 drivers on the books and can controll their careers as they wish, all for 2 seats in F1 that won't be changing for a while

At least with AT there's a chance to show your worth and be nabbed by another team, like Sainz etc...

I'm honestly surprised that Tsunoda has lasted as long as he has.

The article says it is Mintzlaff's decision, not Mark's.

He has a lot of speed but almost no polish and doesn't seem to be getting any better in that regard.
