a bit weird when you consider Geri has been travelling around with the BBC for the entire season. I thought they were preparing her for the role :(

Also these are the races BBC will show live:
China,
Spain,
Canada,
Silverstone,
TBA*,
Belgium,
Italy,
Japan,
India,
Brazil.

Surprised they didn't get Monaco.

OK its not often the most exciting of racing from an action/overtaking standpoint, However it is one of the most historic races in F1, Its the race teams/drivers always talk about been the one to win & is considered the jewel in F1's crown.

I personally love Monaco, I love watching the cars inches from the walls & love the challenge of the place. Its totally different to anything else & I really like that aspect. The difficulties in overtaking there don't bother me as I look to other things & it also makes the overtaking you do see stand out that extra bit more.

Regarding Suzi Perry, Surprising pick considering they had lee McKenzie who I've always felt they have under-used.
Suzi isn't necessarily a bad choice, However whenever I've heard her talking about F1 in the past she hasn't exactly come across as someone overly keen on F1 or as someone who watches F1 a great deal.

Jennie is in her dream job, so she's fine where she is.

But Geri - Jennie. I have to question the West Flanders education system.

Good decision by the BBC. Perry was very good at presenting MotoGP, I think she'll gel well with DC and EJ. It's also good that it means Lee stays as the reporter/interviewer.

In other broadcaster news:

Looks like Motors TV's Best of Crash will be mainly Motocross/WOO this year....judging by their 5 minute highlight clip.
Keep your expectations low people.

And Eurosport looks like it's lost the rights to the WTA tennis to the new BT Vision channel, hopefully that means less delayed motorsport in 2012.
But lets not hold our breath on that one either.

They'll find something else to delay motorsport.

I only watch Eurosport for women's tennis, so I feel lost and upset.

You still have industrial amounts of snooker to watch.

I thought Monaco, GB & the finale were "protected" events under the broadcast sharing agreement? (i.e. regardless of the picks, both channels would show these races live).

Maybe I'm just mad

Well knowing the BBC they probably 'forgot' if that was the case.

Something interesting for those of you that have Motors TV in Europe and want to see some racing over your winter

Quote:
The Toyota Racing Series has confirmed a global television deal that will possibly make it the highest profile package ever secured by a New Zealand Motor Racing category.

Following on from the international success of the 2012 series coverage, the coming series will screen in New Zealand, Europe, the UK and Australia. The Toyota Racing Series is New Zealand’s premier international race category and has propelled many talented New Zealand and overseas racers into the next steps in their careers.

In New Zealand, the TRS coverage will follow the successful format of the 2012 series; each round’s coverage will screen in a prime-time slot on SKY TV on the Friday following the round, then for ‘free to air’ audiences on Prime TV on the following day, Saturday afternoon, with coverage re-screened at least three times on SKY TV’s sport channels.

The SKY/Prime package gives the series a significant share of New Zealand’s biggest television audience.

Alongside the local coverage, TRS programme producer Volt TV has confirmed its coverage will go out to a massive European audience on Motors TV, which broadcasts into 40 countries. The new European package runs alongside the SKY/ Prime local programming, meaning race fans in Europe and the UK will see each round of the series at the same time as New Zealanders.

The announcement follows this month’s repeat screening of the 2012 series on Speed Channel in Australia, which prompted a surge of media and racer interest in TRS. The Australian broadcaster has also confirmed it will carry coverage of TRS 2013.

For race fans around the world, television producers Volt TV will also post brief ‘teaser’ highlight clips on Youtube, with links posted on the series’ website and social media channels. The SKY, Prime TV, Speed channel and Motors TV screening times will also be posted on the series website.

The first round is 10th-13th Jan with a round each weekend until the 7th-10th Feb, so watch out for it!

Nice, they've shown it before but I think on a 12 month delay....

This is the series that runs the "New Zealand Grand Prix" and that Josh Hill and a few others took part in last year to keep their skills up, right?

A shame they couldn't show it live but I guess the time difference would be a bloody nightmare for that! :p
