I liked this race. Best of the season so far.

Nice Persian carpet there.

This is a real turning point for Seb and Ferrari; you can see how much it means to them to have beaten Mercedes in a straight fight.

Bahrain has always been one of the best tracks of the year for passing despite its less than ideal location

Interesting snipped I noticed in Hamilton's post-race comments:

Lewis Hamilton wrote:
"Initially, [it was] a very good start," said Hamilton. "I hit perfect on my target, then just had a bit of wheelspin in the second phase."

What with the rule changes aimed and stopping the teams being involved in the start procedure, it's interesting to still hear these terms. I wonder if he is just using the old words for the new purpose, or if they have found a clever loophole that allows them to instruct the drivers on the ideal RPM.

(If this is the case, it didn't work here!)

Yeah!

Brake failure in Australia, 50/50 incident in China and taken out in Bahrain, he's EXACTLY like Maldonado :slaphead:

The only thing they have in common is that Maldonado is a Latino with spatial awareness issues and Stroll keeps getting driven into by Latinos with spatial awareness issues.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

*Slow clap*

But yeah, I think that Stroll gets way too much hate for an F3 champion that does an okay job for a debut. Not to mention this is far from the best year to be an F1 rookie. Giovinazzi is a very sharply skilled, highly regarded young driver and he had trouble keeping it together at times.

Stroll gets hate because he's a rich kid who's had everything bought for him through to and including F1. Except he's the opposite of other rich kids we've seen come into F1. Stroll's reputation isn't helped by his wild antics at the start of 2015 yet he settled down and went on to demonstrate good capabilities against some reasonable competition in F4 and F3 from 2014-2016. In addition, Stroll has played down his expectations and admitted that yes he knows he's got money behind him that's greatly helped his career. That's pretty humble and is the opposite of the likes of Chilton for example, who did nothing in his junior career despite all the money and then hyped himself up from the moment he "got" an F1 drive through to his current Indycar placing.

But hey, some people will ignore the facts. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

And his crashes on the winter testing and other practice sessions. But that's nothing like Maldonado, he was the worst on that.

Its not just the race's though, he's not exactly been tast in practice or qualy too

I've yet to see anything in his entire career than convinces me he's anything more than a pay driver who hasn't earn his place (all the paid for promotion "journey to f1" documentaries aren't going to sway me either. I've seen adverts for the lance stroll story during nascar and v8 supercar coverage as well as on Canadian tv, which both sky and channel 4 have repackaged into a pre-race feature too, that's a lot of paid tv sports daddy is buying!)
If he comes good and starts winning it won't matter but at the moment I just wish he'd have the grace to have debuted with manor and saved that team from bankruptcy and made his rookie errors there instead of thrusting himself into a midfield team where he's over his head
