Well the good thing I take from this is that they will be streamed live on the internet. NBC does a good job at streaming Sunday night football. So no worries for me there. Saying that some of the races will start at 9am leads me to believe something will be tape delayed because start times are 8am. Unless they are replays of china and Korea for instance. show them live Saturday night and replay before Indy cars on Sunday morning. This isn't as bad as I first thought.

Interesting that NBC will show the Canadian Grand Prix on their main channel but not the New Jersey Grand Prix!?

They already know it won't happen.

100 hours, 20 races, that means 5 hours every weekend. 2 for the race, 3 on friday, 2 on saturday I get seven lol. Ok, maybe FP2, FP3, Qual and Race every wekeend ? Seems pretty good. At least better than what Speed did :p

to be honest, even with all the streams these days which are easily accessible, I don't watch free practice anymore. Exceptionally the final practice before qualifying, but nothing more.

I try to watch all practice sessions, but they're much more boring than say 10 years ago. Friday is too long with 3 hours, it was better when it were just 2 single hour sessions. Less time so the cars went out quicker. Now they usually skip the first half hour of the session.

If they're allocating 5 hours per GP, then I suspect it'll be almost the same as Speed i.e. 1.5 (FP2) + 1 (Q) + 2.5 (R). Nothing special at all. Little bit better than TSN I guess.

When you consider how much time other global broadcasters dedicate to F1, 5 hours per GP weekend is nothing. The GP alone should be 4 hours... 1 hour build up, the race (2 hours'ish), 1 hour post race analysis. By the looks of it, NBC won't be doing much different to what Speed offers now.

Agreed kals. I was recently on vacation and spent a few days in London and was lucky to catch BBC's coverage of the Belgian GP. Man you guys sure are lucky and spoiled over there! Especially in regards to your pre and post race stuff. And that's just BBC. I can't imagine how much more coverage there would be from Sky F1. We're really missing out over here :(

In one final stab in the heart to F1 fans in the U.S, SPEED has announced that it will not send the broadcast crew to Austin to provide any special/extended coverage of the United States GP; it'll have play-by-play based in Charlotte and Buxton live at the track like any other broadcast.

You may recall they brought the whole commentary crew to the USGP in Indianapolis for live interview shows in the paddock, which was fucking awesome.

And you've perfectly summarized why I've been so hacked off with the quality of the coverage since I moved from England to USA two years ago.

F1 is still trying to break into USA (even after how many years???), but with the quality of what Speed (and now NBC) have to offer it's little wonder no-one cares about this sport. Speed send one man on the ground to every race but barely use him. The commentators sit in a studio thousands of miles away, missing vital details by not being in front of the action and do no better a job than us armchair experts. Please either do the job properly or not at all.

Don't know where to post this, but SPEED latin-america will become Fox Sports 3 as early as next monday. I guess it's safe to say that the american SPEED won't be around for much longer.

Still undecided in Brazil whether Globo will show US GP or not.

Brazilian football league champion have been defined but the relegation battle is open, and counts with a traditional team in it.

Meanwhile, Globo is already showing teasers for Brazilian GP.

Now that Leigh Diffey is going to be calling NBC's coverage, I wonder if Network Ten / ONE will use their audio rather than Sky.

I'm watching the BBC coverage of the Brazilian race at the moment, after watching it live on Sky. Gary Anderson is fucking worthless. He might as well be replaced by me. His contribusions are basically "If its dry the inters won't work anymore". Thanks for that Gary.

How the mighty have fallen. :( BBC is painful now.

I still much prefer the BBC. Lazenby's a tool, Damon Hill's as dull as they come, Ted Kravitz is no better than Gary and David Croft spends most of his time shouting and making unfunny jokes. The only thing that might be better about Sky is the fact they have Brundle, but I really like Edwards/DC so that's not an issue for me. The BBC have a great commentary team, a FAR better presenting team (unlike many, I actually like EJ even if I disagree with him a lot of the time) and the fact that they haven't pissed off half the paddock means they get far better interviews too.

I'm the opposite. I like Ted, he walks about technical stuff without sounding like a simpleton, and I prefer Croft (just) over Ben, since Ben just screams at everything since that's what he's famous for. EJ would be better off if he got sacked.

I want BBC 2011 back. Fuck Sky, fuck BBC 2012. I want the old one back.

I like EJ because even though he can talk a lot of shit, he's clearly incredibly passionate about the sport. Even if you disagree with what he says, you can't deny that he firmly believes in what he's saying - and I find that far more interesting to watch than the hordes of pundits you get that just stand there agreeing with everything. Hill, for example.

I think we can all agree on BBC 2011 though. Best F1 coverage we've ever had, and are likely to get for a while.

Ben screams when it's appropriate (at actions where I'm getting up from my seat during a race), Croft makes it sound fake. He just screams for the sake of screaming, not because he is passionate. That's my opinion.

I want BBC 2012 (maybe plus Ted) for 20 live races in 2013.
