No-one seems to be considering why Max lost the lead on the better tyre on the gripper side of the grid anyway

Mercedes have less tyre wear, higher straight speed and has a better tyre for the race.

There was nothing else Max could do but go all in there. Barring a safety car, that was his last chance to get the championship.
