I attended 4 races. 4 driver parades. 4 times Lewis with music on, barely looking away from his phone to wave to the public. While you had guys like Alonso, Massa, Button, Grosjean, Vettel, all actually interacting with the fans. Hell, even Kimi did the effort of sticking his arm up and looking at the people.
1 of the races he won, he didn't even come out the garage after the race to acknowledge the huge group of Brits who had been yelling his name for half-an-hour under a scorching hot sun.

What GP that was? Been to 10 GP's with Lewis driving and have always seen him waving and acknowledging the crowd altough often filming it with his (Blackberry? ) phone. Only drivers I can remember not paying attention or action like a dick were Massa and Ericcson. Then again those were Belgian, Spanish, Hungarian and Australian GP's. Might differ with the Arabian-GP's.

Kimi has the personality of a beige Volvo, treats his engineers like shit and runs away from races when they don't go his way (Monaco '06 and that race in Spain he left after about 10 laps).

Yeah totally be like Kimi, he's a great role model.

Oh, so you apparently have met him? Or maybe that's what you've come up with some media bits that you've got?

No need to answer that, because it's the later. Anyone who's actually spend some time with him says that he's genuinely nice and relaxed guy.

What is it with you trying to argue about everything anyway?

Kimi maybe a great guy and a riot in his private life, but in his public life that we see he is about as interesting as watching paint dry. Lewis while coming across as a pillock is at least somewhat interesting.

But at the end of the day they couldn't give to shits about what we think so the point is mute.

I think Americans can only improve the show and overall quality of Formula One. Here we are arguing about personalities of the drivers and what they might be doing off-track and free time. And all this during the race week!

Scotty, that "meeting with Kimi" doesn't count. When he's on duty, he's locked in into his media cover. Off duty he's not boring at all.

Kimi was happier when he slipped and fell in a boat than when he won the championship

the only joy he has in F1 is the moment he is in the car

Well that goes for nearly all Finns, to be honest. He's the best example that Finnish Nightmares comic is telling the world the truth about us.

While Mika Hakkinen was a bit like Kimi at times, Mika at least let his personality come through, where as Kimi just shuts it off. Good luck with Liberty Media in trying to use Kimi for promotional stuff.

Mika was is just a quiet, reserved person, not a complete sociopath

I'll start calling those days where I hate all human contact, my "Finnish days".

- Bob from work: "haha what's up man you look so tired this morning, working hard or hardly working?"
- Fuck off Bob, it's my Finnish day today

I remember a comment by DC that Mika told Kimi in 2001/2002 to stay low profile/quiet/boring towards the press so they don't want to hang around for to long. This, according to DC, lead to a lot of press work for himself.

Both Mika and Kimi are very different in their personal life. I believe this party-lifestyle even led to Mika's divorce from Erja after he quit DTM.

Random bit of history I picked up on today:

1976, one of the greatest F1 seasons ever, right? Only once did a driver win a race from outside the front row, and 11 races was won from pole.

That's the era many fans want to go back to

Lauda would have walked that year if he hasn't crashed

I thought I saw a press release from McLaren somewhere on Facebook where they denied it. They didn't deny the talks though.

-Edit-
Perhaps I'm wrong:

"I can confirm that McLaren is not in discussion with Apple about any potential investment," said Michael Flewitt, chief executive officer of the automotive unit.
