Interesting development - wonder what this means for Formula 1 or its coverage?

Probably not a lot, unless you want to spend thousands on coverage other sports charge little or nothing for.

I noticed that the new official f1 app is developed by 'Formula One Digital Media Limited' & not Soft Pauer like the old timing app's were.
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/officia ... 22598?mt=8

It also featured team radio & audio commentary I guess direct from FOM Via there 'Remote Operations Centre' in Biggin Hill.

Live English commentary. That's awesome! I can get rid of the useless Italian commentators! \o/

How much is it priced at on itunes?

Better than the 30 euro's (or something like that) they asked last year! With the new options it definitely is worth it, 30 euro's was way too much.

Can't wait to plug in the English commentary to my speakers. Now just hoping Sport 1 has an option to put Olav Mol's audio track off with only engines sound running.

Jack Nicholls will be joining the 5Live commentary team this year replacing Jonathan Legard, He will be doing the races James Allen doesn't do. Allan McNish will be alongside both I think for the full year now that he's retired from racing.

Jack Nicholls has been doing commentary for the FIA GT & Blanchpain endurance series races the past few years.

And what about us, who don't have an android/iOs device? I bet the web livetiming will be the same as 10 (or more) years ago...

I think if you look at the app, you will miss all the action on TV.

I got the app last year. I liked being able to see sector times during the race but I did find myself looking at the app and missing things on the TV. It was quite expensive as well. Around $50 NZD I believe. I probably wouldn't bother getting it again unless it was significantly cheaper.

Bit of a joke to pay that much when they replace the app with a new one (and charge again) every year.

Wasn't like Frank Williams trying to convince Keke Rosberg to stop smoking until Keke actually looked the least exhausted on the 1982 Brazilian GP podium where Piquet and Prost almost collapsed?
