If Lewis wins all 3 remaining races - and you wouldn't bet against it at this point - he'll break Ascari's record for the highest win percentage in a season, as well as equalling Schumacher and Vettel's 13-win seasons

Mercedes should go on vacation earlier, put some test drivers there just to get mileage

for God sakes, let the others play, stop this disgrace that is winning every single race

they took away the sport I learned to love

at 70 years of age the sport is ill like a 70 year old elder and heading to a painful death

MotoGP this year is a good example of what happens if you take away the domination, randomness all around

It's frustrating when one team dominates, but it's not something new. 2002 and 2004 were awful, and the first season I started watching (1992) was Mansell domination. We just have to hope that Red Bull and Ferrari get their act together in 2022, and Renault/McLaren/Aston continue to improve as well.

Failing that, Bottas needs to improve, or be replaced with someone who can take the fight to Lewis.

I feel like it's got noticeably worse in the last couple of years. The second half of last year was good but otherwise it's been one-way traffic and it feels like a long time since it felt like we were in a genuine title fight. And the frustrating thing is we know it's going to be the same next year because the cars are the same, and most likely for several years after because of Mercedes' engine advantage

It's that sinking feeling of inevitability that Lewis is going to win that gets me. It's no reflection of how I feel about him - he's a brilliant driver and entirely merits the success he's had. But honestly, the last 3 races have been incredibly frustrating, because we keep getting tasters of something interesting happening in F1 for once, only for it to be snatched away and replaced by yet another Hamilton win. And then you tune in to social media to find a chorus of unequivocal praise from fans, like back in the days when Schumacher was dominant - though at least back then, there was some level of recognition that Ferrari's dominance was bad and that the FIA should change things

The whole thing is incredibly tedious - the on-track action is probably better than 2002/2004 but the worry is this will carry on and on for the foreseeable future, and everyone involved will carry on letting it happen because Lewis is the face of the sport without thinking of the long-term consequences. I'm not sure even the 2022 rules can stop them - maybe I'll look back at this in two years' time and think "perhaps I should have seen the change coming", but at the moment, for all the hints that people like Lewis and Toto are moving on, I can't see Mercedes being toppled. It's going to take them leaving F1 for things to change

At the end of the day it's not really Merc's fault. They're doing the job they and the other top teams are supposed to do. It's on the other top teams to do a better job. Especially Ferrari with their resources.

No one is saying it's Lewis' or Mercedes' fault. The FIA and FOM have laid the foundations for this. I think Ross Brawn's team are trying to turn it around, but the top teams now have the sport sufficiently by the balls that there's not much they can do. For all that Mosley did that was wrong as FIA president, in 2002 and 2004 he made bold calls to change the rules for the very next season, not two or three years down the line, and they generally worked in making F1 more competitive

it was better when teams worked through the limit and cars used to break down halfway through races because equipment was on the edge

now this kind of stuff only happens when you wake up with your right foot, sip exactly 15cc of coffee at a time and turn on the TV exactly at the time the parade lap begins

Which is also a paradox. Because having a brand like F1 raising awareness of the problem with racism is good, but it sucks to see it profiting off it while making a minimal effort to make real progress on such a matter.

The alternative is to minimal effort is nothing. It's a lose-lose situation. Can't campaign against every problem in the world. The moment of silence before races will be 4-5 hours long.

F1 itself only became one of the richest sports on earth between the 60's and 90's through cigarette sponsorship, one of the leading causes of premature death over the last what 50-100 years? Hypocrisy isn't a new thing for the sport. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty confident Formula 1 was the very last mainstream sport to have clear, visible cigarette sponsorship (2007 Monaco I think), when every other sport ditched it in the early-mid 90's, and still has it with that shady Malboro/Mission Winnow shit through Ferrari.

MotoGP and(or?) WSBK have MW branding on the Ducatis as well.

Ducati in the WSBK dont have MW branding on them.

MotoGP had cigarette sponsorships until 2006/07 as well.

Lets hope Formula 1 will turn out for Mercedes just like Game of Thrones turned out for... well, basically everyone and it will be an obvious unavoidable train wreck half way through season 8, that destroys all its legacy and many of the main actors die tragically graphic deaths.

Jesus Christ guys, we actually had a good race today IN THE RAIN and still the bitching about the same old thing

The result is not the making of it. The racing is pretty good when we go to tracks they haven't got reams and reams of data about.

As for the championship, relax. I sense this is the end of an era, in one way or another.

Either Lewis goes soon or by 2022 he'll be gone

If you don't like one particular era of F1, be patient. A new one will come along eventually.

Yep I'm predicting 2021 will be his and Toto's "Last Dance". Beat the record for championships, then move on to something new. Possibly come back 2 years later for a disappointing stint with a lesser team.

Although Lewis's response to Webber after the race, "I feel like I'm just getting started" is concerning...
