I have never laughed so hard as I did when I first saw the Rimmer Experience Scene! lol

One of the few highlights of series 7 tbh. But what a highlight

Agreed. One of the few times I laughed while Kochanski was in a scene.

Jeez, for a second I thought someone of the racing legends had actually died today. Add a name or something.

Never noticed this before but he looks like a young Johnny Depp.

I find it puzzling how many news items seem to suggest Ferrari is the team to beat.

Clearly, Mercedes is still way ahead. Hadn't it been for the timely retirement of Ericcson, and some strategic errors by the Silver Arrows, I have no doubt Malaysia would have been another easy Hamilton win.

not that easy, mate

Vettel's race was 1 tenth faster than Hamiltons(that is from lap 10 to penultimate lap). And from lap 14 to the penultimate, Rosberg(fastest race pace) was only 3s faster than Vettel.

The reason for it being laps 10 and 14 is because that's when Hamilton and Rosberg, respectively, got rid of traffic. So, on clean air, Ferrari was a match for Mercedes. And it seemed to me that Vettel lost more time lapping backmarkers(It's been a while since I last watched an F1 race live. Now I just fast forward through it), so it could be even better for Ferrari. Also, the compounds used, by the 3 of them, were the same after the first pit after the SC(Mediums/Hard for Vet/Ham and Hard/Medium for Ros) Ham and Ros were using Hards after the SC but it was fresher than Vettel's Mediums, so, all in all, main conditions were pretty similar in this comparison.

Mercedes is not way ahead anymore, at least not on some tracks. I took all this info from fia.com lap chart history

Hot conditions favor Ferrari. They handle their tyres exceptionally well, Merc not so much. Merc was running a setup which was faster on a single lap but neglected race pace. Plus, Merc was running with reduced power to cope with the immense heat, whereas Ferrari chose a more risky route. Under normal conditions Merc are still the team to beat.

Yup, pretty much everything you said is what's been believed atm. Ferrari indeed seems nicer on tyres and the hotter conditions are believed to benefit them. Is it official that Mercedes reduced power to cope with the immense heat, though? Did Ferrari really chose a more risky route or is that a speculation? Those are genuine questions as I don't watch/read interviews these days.

There were people saying Mercedes chose a wet weather setup and that's why Ferrari was on par on the race day, but if that was the case, why was Vettel so close in the wet qualifying?!

Also, let's not forget Vettel's Q1 time, on Hards, was only 0,5s slower than what the Mercedes did, on Softs.

I don't know how things will be in China, but Malaysia wasn't simply an one off fluke for Ferrari. They really had the pace there

It was SC that was the tipping point in the race, regardless of whether Vettel was 1 tenth quicker after Hamilton cleared the traffic or not. The point is that both Mercedes had to use up its tires to get back into 2nd and 3rd. Had that event not occurred then Hamilton would have controlled the pace at the front.

Don't worry, in cooler China Mercedes will be back to a 30 second lead over the field.

Anyone here knows if it is possible to buy the book "The Cruel Sport" by Robert Daley anywhere in Europe? Online or in a shop? If so, please PM me.

what was Audi Motorsport boss Dr Wolfgang Ulrich doing? Was he hunched, scowling over his screen, monitoring and controlling the situation second by second? He was not. He was watching the telly, gasping and giggling with the rest of us as two world class drivers put on a show that for its quality and duration beats anything I have seen in F1 in both the recent and not so recent past.

Random thought on F1 teams in financial pain... In Australia, we have the AFL & that consists of 18teams. The code has been around for over 100years now. In the past, if a team has been in financial cirisis, the usual things get done, such as take out a loan, change of management at the affected club, membership drives etc but also the others clubs come together & many of them buy a stake in the team to give it a financial boost & help keep the club alive. Once the team gets better again it repays the money back to the clubs who helped out & I also know that some of those clubs who got the help, have come back to help those other clubs who helped them. In short, it's a mentally of "I've got your back man!".

I think if this type of mentality was in F1, even just a little, the sport wouldn't look back, only forward...

back in the days you could walk into your opponents garage and borrow random parts like brakes or sparkplugs or tools but today I doubt that happens

damn, just f*cking damn...

on the radio, there is this '90s' week, with absolutely great music, but now and then there is some 'news' from that era...

they just did the live commentary from Ayrton's crash...

and I feel like catapulted back to 1994...

and have a hard time keeping my eyes dry tbh...

damn...

Ricciardo hopes for 'one magic button'.

I thought there already was a 'magic button', causing most of the problems...
