Ive just been watching some Monaco stats and i see Ricciardo holds the lap record here!!
How!!!??? i tought MSchumacher holds it with a 1.14 or something.
Im sure with these cars they cant beat the cars from 10 years ago here. So hows Daniel holding the lap recors when usually cars from 2004,2005 hold lap records on tracks that they still drive today, like monza
Or did the track change?? I can remmber that anything has changed since 2003

It was changed slightly for last year. But that seems enough for people to separate the two times for 'different' layouts.

Quote:
The future of the Monaco Grand Prix is under threat, race organiser Michel Boeri has warned.

Caroli Group, a Monaco real estate development company, who according to Nice-Matin is planning to develop a new district near the port including shops, restaurants and museums.

“The project of Mr Caroli, if it were to happen, would automatically lead to the end of the formula one grand prix. I guarantee it,” Boeri, president of the organising Automobile Club de Monaco, told the local Nice-Matin newspaper.

Boeri said: “The ACM is not qualified to comment on the urban, economic and cultural decisions of the government, but it can warn about the harmful consequences of this project to the future of the F1 race and all motor sport events in Monaco.”

Space is famously tight in Monaco for the huge travelling circus of formula one, and Nice-Matin said the Caroli Group proposes to take over an area used as the F1 TV compound.

“No TV compound, no grand prix,” Boeri warned.

I remember reading somewhere, that there will be also some minor changes this year again, at the uphill to the Casino and in the "Stone" part of the circuit! I can't find the news again, unfortunatelly! Does anyone knows what changes are that?

I don't find it surprising, 2005 was the last year with V10's but because of the tyre regulations that year it's 2004 which holds the most records. But horsepower is less important at Monaco (as McLaren has continuously stated the last couple of weeks) so it shouldn't be a big surprise that modern cars are faster here.

For the fun of it, I also checked Hungary but there's a big difference there: 1.19.071 by Schumacher in 2004 compared to Ricciardo's 1.24.821 last year.

I read in another forum that the roll hoop failed on the car, that's why they also didn't manage to connect it back after it fell

I expect rain after the race, 50% chance around 4pm.

Only 20% before that.

The rain will probably stay in the north. But given it's only Wednesday, anything can happen.

If it rains I predict that the Safety Car will lead the most laps :whistling:

I love how some of you are praying for rain, believing that will make the racing exciting. I'm not sure what's exciting about watching 22 cars stationary in the pit lane. But hey, each to their own.

There isn't a lot of spray at Monaco and the speeds are low, even more so in the rain. We had a very wet race in 2008 without much problems, I don't think they'd red flag it even if we have "4-car finish" conditions (incidentally, the 1996 race wasn't that wet, it was on the wet/damp side by the end. It was just general stupidity, recklessness and unreliability all across the field).

monaco even in the dry doesn't have the desired grip, so is all about the drivers being pussies and saying on radio "is too damn wet, I can't race" while there's no spray, just drivers who can't race in the rain

Hopefully Ricciardo can shit the Mercedes up for most of the weekend with the engine upgrade.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
