MotoGP in the morning, nothing in the afternoon so I can actually enjoy my day, and F1 in the evening. Every race weekend should be like this.

Dont be too sure. Quali could be moved to Sunday.

Most of the heavy rain is staying east of Austin at the moment.

They've had problems with driving in the wet for much longer than that, stop bitching about Pirelli. Do you work for a competitor or something?
Not blaming Pirelli, In fact I specifically said that the problem was a lack of wet weather testing which has prevented them doing the development work on the wets that they would like to. Its been something Pirelli have been asking for for a while & its something I feel they should be allowed to do.

Honestly don't think stef will be happy until the return of refuelling, grooved tyres, traction control, single lap qualy and everything else that blighted the sport ten years ago but was the way it was when he fell I love with the sport so is the way things should be
I actually hated all of those things so don't want to see F1 re-adopt any of them ;)

If I was going to suggest F1 goes back to older rule sets is would be things that came before all those things. Free tyre choice/use, no mandatory pit stops, wider cars, wider tyres, less complex aero & a larger reliance on ground effects & mechanical grip. I want to see a rules set that encourages good racing without having to rely on what I see as gimmicks like DRS & High-degredation tyres. I don't blame Pirelli for the tyres BTW, There doing what Bernie told them to... Although I will say i'm not sure the way there going about it (Thermal degredation) is necessarily the best way to do it.

Ah enough about all that, Weather update.

Rumours are saying they could postpone the race, especially if Hurricane Patricia affects the area on Sunday.

They were just saying on Sky News that meteorologists are saying this hurricane could be the strongest to ever hit Mexico & there expecting it to cause a lot of damage.

Wonder if it could also cause problems for the Mexican Gp next weekend?

Today is the lighter day of rain compared to tomorrow. Supposedly it will have possibly cleared up by race time, but that widespread 4-8 inches with areas getting substantially more than that will lead to serious flooding issues that I'd think might even make the track impossible to get to from a lot of directions. Not to mention an extreme safety hazard for fans. You do not mess with flash flooding in this area.

Hurricane Patricia is now apparently the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere. As far as affecting COTA though its just heavy rains that will effect here.

I wouldn't mind if the hurricane ripped some tarmac off of the run-off areas and maybe the whole stadium before Peraltada :whistling:

I still fantasize sometimes that weather gods would punish F1 so that it would be soaking wet on every single Sunday (and Monday). Ok, maybe they would cancel the first 9 GPs or try to reschedule them (wow, think about the financial loss). But by Hungary I think they would give up and race, only to notice that it wasn't undriveable after all. Only very difficult. Also, I think several consecutive wet races would push Pirelli to improve their tyres.
Well, won't happen this season, as Sunday looks dry.

Hah hah haa! That's a good one!

By the way, is the helmet design rule scrapped? Looks like everyone is tweaking their looks now.
