I just hope they're not holding on to false hope. |

Me too, although I guess hope is all they can have right now. As has already been said about Schumacher and Richard Hammond's injuries, there simply wasn't any news for a while. It is interesting (and refreshingly open) to see him making a direct comparison to Schumacher's family and their wish to keep things private. |

His father seems so nice and genuine... :-/ |

Jules' father probably understands, that the fans and people are living this accident with him and want to know the latest development. It's pretty clear Jules' accident was much worse than Schumacher's, and his father acknowledges Jules may die in any moment. It's respectable for him to say this aloud, as it allows us too to cope with the emotions and thoughts. The problem with the news of Schumi's accident was/is that we were never told if he's alert, can react to stimuli or follow people wit his eyes. It's still unclear whether Schumi can do anything. The lack of knowledge irritates as one doesn't know what he should feel or think. |

I think the situations are different. Bianchi's crash happened while during a live F1 event, under the spotlight of mass media, and left thousands of people shocked, wanting to know how he develops. Schumacher's accident happened following retirement from the sport and in semi-private circumstances. While the German is very much a public figure, he 'started' his private life. That said, we can only speculate, and I'm not sure if that is the ideal option either. by the way, on the website http://www.motorsport.com I saw some not before seen images of the crash (section Japanese GP). I won't post them. |

This fucking sucks. I don't know why, but when I read 'Jules may die in any moment' in JJ's post above mine all the hairs on my arm went up. I can't remember Senna's and Ratzenberger's death since I was only 5 at that time, but I always thought I would never have to go through that with all the safety improvements. And now it possibly could be here, and I'm just not ready for this. |

According to Michael Schmidt from Auto, Motor und Sport, Bianchi's ear plug G-force sensor registered 92G impact. http://www.ts.fi/moottoriurheilu/f1/688307/Bianchin+paahan+92+gn+talli To put some perspective, Luciano Burti's accident at Spa 2001 was 80G and Mika Häkkinen's Adelaide 1995 crash was speculated to be around 200G. Can't remember what it was for Dan Wheldon, but he was also carrying a sensor in LV. |

How about Hammond crash in the jetcar. He had the same type of head trauma. |

Hammond actually had exactly the same kind of injury, but was conscious within a week as well. The trouble is, head injuries seem to be very hard to compare :-/ |

Hammond didn't hit his head directly onto a tow hook though, I hate to speculate but we've seen no photo's from the left side of the car, so have no idea as to the extent of the trauma caused by the impact. |

You can't compare the injuries because the severity is not going to be the same. |

Very true. Wasn't there at least one photographer at the scene on that side? If there was, it's quite telling that his pictures haven't been released, even though plenty others have. |

I saw a video of the crash from a fan at the track before it was taken down. It looked horrible ![]() I really hope he recovers, but you just don't know with head injuries. |

It's been eerily quiet for a week now. I suppose it's possible there are no significant changes to report but have there been any updates recently? |

A little news from Luciano Burti, not at all encouraging I'm afraid: http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns29221.html Quote: OCTOBER 23, 2014
Bianchi's recovery chances very small says Burti Luciano Burti, a former F1 driver and full-time pundit for Brazil's Globo, has bad news about the health of critically injured driver Jules Bianchi. Little has been heard about the stricken French driver for the past week, some 18 days after he fell unconscious when he struck a recovery vehicle during the Japanese grand prix. Burti, a former F1 driver for Jaguar and Prost, told Sao Paulo radio Jovem Pan: "Talking with people who know his situation better, the chance of recovery is very small. "If he survives, it seems that his chances of living without consequences are also very small," said Burti. "It's very sad to hear, as Bianchi is a young, talented driver, I saw him all the time -- he was always together with Felipe Massa," he added. "Unfortunately, we know that Bianchi's chances are not very good, but it's a miracle that he did not die instantly. Everyone is very aware of that," said Burti. |

Very disheartening to hear. I guess, barring a miracle, PVS might be the most likely outcome for poor Jules now... |
