What? How in the world did Alonso not give a fair fight to Massa?

Whilst I wouldn't say they did not give Massa a fair fight, they did balls up Massas strategy by waiting a lap. He lost so much time with dead tyres that it cost him a few spots, then he was stuck in traffic. Not an excuse of course, but Ferrari didn't help him. They should've queued the cars like Mercedes.

What has that to do with Alonso though?

Mercs weren't that close as Ferraris when they went to the pits. It's hard to imagine his tires were so worn out that it would've been better for Massa staying stopped for some secs behind Alonso in the pits instead of having the extra lap he had.

Massa should have pitted a lap EARLIER than Alonso. But that would put in risk Alonso position as the #1 pilot, and force the team to make more rude team orders that could damage their image worldwide. So they keep holding Massa by other silent means. In Australia they held him for 2 laps, to really insure he was behind Alonso afterwards.

Alonso is to blame as he is one of the guys who wants the most a 100% team support for him only. He did his job nevertheless. But I REALLY wanted to see what would happen if Massa were able to pit earlier than Alonso in this 2 races.

But hoping that Massa would have team support is utopic anyway.

It's a situation that has me in mixed minds. That's a few occasions where Massa/Smedley seem to have been outwitted on strategy just this season. Massa should try and make the jump early. I don't know, maybe see Lap 4 or 5, if Alonso was waiting till 8. As it is he just seemed to follow Alonso felt his tyres weren't there and then Massa either needs to wait/go longer. If Alonso then wants Lap 4, Massa still has Lap 5 when his tyres are still giving decent performance.

Granted Massa admits that he couldn't get the tyres to work properly on Sunday, so I think the only position he really lost overall was to Button
