You can slow down and still lose it.

Brazil always puts on a good race, one of the few tracks where you can guarantee action!

Until the FIA fuck it up in 2 years time, apparently! (First time I've heard about the changes..whyy....whyyy :( )

2010 (Dry) sucked, 2009 (rain) was good, 2008 sucked horribly until the rain appeared. We need rain :p

Looking forward to this!

Post subject:  Re: F1 2011 - 40th Brazilian Grand Prix

why do they need to bring in a chicane in a long straight that actually brought overtaking?

And 2003 was a great race but that will never happen again because these days they would do 5 laps behind a SC, then red-flag it for 30 minutes, do another 10 laps behind SC until it is dry enough to go to slicks.

Because there have been a couple of fatalities in recent years at that spot. That's their reasoning.

The chicane on that map is between 3 and 4 though. The fatalities have been on the pit straight/kink haven't they?

Tarmac everywhere again.

Yes.

Personally, I find the Interlagos layout a bit meh, but I guess that makes it decent - its different. I love the run from Juncao to Senna S though. And the fact it isn't 27 miles wide.

Yeah, there's just something about it that seems to encourage good racing. I quite like how short the lap is as well. Something different. + Elevation changes.

Track just has a natural flow to it, which helps a lot. No drawn out spot on drastic 90°-corners or something like that.

I wish they'd show more shots of the lake though. Because none of the TV cameras seem to show it's there.

Or use the pre-1989 layout!

I used to love that layout on GPL!

Such an amazing layout. Looks like a go-kart track from above! 8km though, excellent on the ground.

I heard they will put run-off at the last turn where there was lot of bad incidents over the years, which is now showed on the map at the 1st page !

I know its not exactly ideal but for F1 that's hardly a bad zone since its basically just a curved straight.

The only people I can remember crashing there were Rosberg (due to his front wing being under the car) and Webber (wet).
F1 cars rarely get side by side until just before the start finish line.

Yes, well, Interlagos is one of that rare breed of F1 track that actually gets used on some of the other 51 weekends of the year.

And 2 drivers have been killed in the past 2 years due to crashing into the wall on the outside there before spinning back into the pack. So something has to be done for them.

Indeed, when the circuit organisers contacted the FIA to see if the work needed to be done for Formula 1 this year they were told that it was not necessary.

Well let us hope the changes they make are the kind of temporary chicanes that F1 won't need to use but the other series will.

Like when you look at various racetracks that have little chicane-y kinks in straights that only Motorbikes usually use, stuff like that which would mean safe national racing and non-disturbed F1 racing, that way everyone wins! :)

They're just moving the barrier back a bit and changing the pit entry. I don't think the actual track layout will be affected by the improvements.

If Tilke came up with that design for his next track everyone would be all up in arms.....
