DRS isn't needed though, so long as the tyres are crap. DRS on the Kemmel Straight is just a joke. What I posted isn't completely confirmed, but it is likely. IMO, have it from the exit of Stavelot/Paul Frere and until Bus Stop. So what if Blanchimont is in the way?

Wow, that's a real shame. I was planning on sitting at the beginning of Kemmel. Now I'm not too sure. If it will be like Turkey's DRS zone it will be very boring and even dangerous, with really big speed differences. The run up to the Busstop was the right place to put DRS.

Blanchimont would be flat with DRS now days anyway. If engineers deemed that too dangerous then just have it on the exit of Blanchimont to the bus stop.

True. At the exit of Blanchimont, both cars will be at top speed anyway. Therefore, the DRS will just benefit the guy behind because both are at max. speed. It didn't work in Australia because by the time they got to Turn 1, the cars were still reaching top speed.

I may (surely) be completely wrong here, but I think it won't be much like Turkey. I think the cars with DRS activated could be stuck on the rev limiter early in the straight. It will still be easy, but cars actually run less downforce than in Istanbul and they will be way up to speed after Eau Rouge, so the difference between both cars shouldn't be that much.

Are the teams still able to select their gear ratios (and therefore top speed) or is that all done by the FIA now? If the teams can still sort their own gears then they could compromise the rest of the lap to have better overtaking ability

they can do that

As has been said, nothing has been OFFICIALLY announced re: DRS and the FIA have learnt a lot of lessons from the use of it in the season so far.

This won't be another Turkey, I can see them not having the activation line until well past the right hand kink before the straight bit coming up to Les Combs so the passing doesn't become too easy.

As much as we think the straight is usually long enough to guarantee overtaking without it, the downforce levels usually mean cars can't follow too closely through Eau Rouge, especially now it is flat, so it might be required to boost the car behind into a good towing position.

The run to the Bus Stop, or just the Start/Finish straight would be ideal.

Start/Finish straight won't work because they barely even get into 7th gear, the best place for DRS is definitely after Blanchimont.

Well, he can have Jock Clear shove his face into a cake.

Aside from that, who knows?

Well if it's going to be anywhere where he has a good weekend, it should be here. Mixed conditions always likely at Spa, the W02 should work better here than other tracks because of the length of time DRS can be used for + Schumi is good at Spa. Well, it might be enough to get him 6th :p

Anyway, DRS is here, because its such a hard place to overtake

This one is now confirmed, and they are planning to ban DRS in Eau Rouge.

Eau Rouge was getting easier and easier every year, now they finaly had a new chance to show who had the balls, but noooo.
