Yeah because the amount of tarmac runoff is proportional to the amount a on-track battles.


The guys can take more risks now to create a move then before. Also I was talking about the entertaining side of the sport.

The "more risk" usually results in a maneuver to be discussed about. Like Spa or Magny-Cours this year, imo. Racing should be held on race tracks where gravel circumscribes the corners. But not on a tarmac area with curbs to indicate the corners.

Gravel sucks. I would rather see walls on the edge on the track then some outdated thing on the edge of the track.

Outdated? Well in the old days mistakes weren't forgiven so easily and that's the way in should be IMO. They are supposed to be the best drivers in the world.

Tarmac as well. What did Bernie say in 2005 when the first GP was held at Istanbul? As far as I remember something like (relating to the run-off areas) you rather run out of gas than hitting the barrier.
If there's tons of tarmac around a race track it's lame. Doesn't matter where the track you just use what you've got. I don't like that. Just look at DTM/F3 at Hockenheim in T1.

Tarmac isn't necessarily safer. When it's wet it might as well be ice. Take a scenario such as Dino Morelli's acident at the Nurburgring in F3000. If that had been tarmac, his injuries would have been much worse. There is no denying that the gravel slowed him down.

If we made a small comparison, the tarmac run-off works better, if it's in a corner like Pouhon. How ever, if it's a slow corner after a long straight, gravel trap is better, especially the 1st corner at Nurburgring (think about Räikkönen 05, Dino Morelli or 2007 rain mayhem). When you think about turkish gp, you can tell that there's too much of the tarmac, it eventually makes the interesting circuit to boring when driver can go off the circuit pretty much when ever he feels little uncomfortable on the circuit and he will only lose like 0,2 secs instead of the whole race.

Should just do a GP4, when you run off track it limits your engine for 10 seconds LOL

Its like Magny Cours. When a driver felt they couldn't make the chicanes, they could just feather and roll across the green stuff without a loss of time and even an advantage. In the old days, the drivers would have to go through without one mistake or that's it.

Tarmac run offs ruin circuits. Very bother to have a track at all?

Why not just a big parking lot where drivers can go anywhere?

Gravel traps need to be re-introduced.

Caesar's Palace.

These are the best drivers in the world, and they need to be challenged not be given lives. Albert Park is the only track left that has no tarmac.
