Having only two points between first and second is stupid.

I voted for the old one. We are in an era of F1 when it seems that no team can dominate the way Ferrari did in the first half of the decade, so there won't be a driver pulling away and clinching the title with several races to go. Hopefully F1 will stay that way in terms of competition.

There must be a higher points gap between 1st and 2nd.

The fundamental question is how you weigh the relative importances of the championship going to the most deserving driver or trying to keep the title race alive for as long as possible.

10-6-4-3-2-1 is the fairest there has ever been IMO, but it didn't make for many gripping end of season finales.

That's why we have Race Stewards to keep it close. :)

1st race:

1

2nd race:

2-1

3rd race:

4-2-1

4th race:

8-4-2-1

5th race:

16-8-4-2-1

I think you understand... ;)

Ah, so the person that wins the last race wins the championship.

Not necessary, but most likely.

It would produce saison finales with like 10 or more drivers with a chance to win.

Okay, nobody would watch a race at the beginning but... hey, the last races are the best. Look at the grand prix rating threads...

Beezle, your points system is so shitty not even Ecclestone would approve it.

Beezle,

2^n > 2^1 + 2^2 +.......+ 2^(n-1)

Hm... okay, your right. I will have to rethink this...

Edit: No, you'r not!!!

Let's have a 4 race saison.
Driver A wins the first three and finishes secund in the fourth, so he would have 1+2+4+4=11
The one who wins race 4 would have 8.

Edit 2: The fitting schedule would start with valencia and hungaroring and would end with singapore, spa and monace of course, so that the most points are awardet for the most challenging races.

This is just the current system multiplied by 2.

Yes, so it makes winning twice as important.

Not only that, it's a eco-friendly system, in that drivers can score twice as many points without having to complete a 36 race season in order to do so.

Lol, I am assuming this is a joke, in which case, well done sir!

It's still a very shitty points system.

Ah, yes I forgot that the driver could win every race could score points in the last race.

It's still possibly the worst point system I've ever seen though.

Considering that the title would be decided too early, yep.

Actually nope dalejrgamer, the title would always be guaranteed to go to the last round

Maybe. But we can agree that it's stupid.

Yes, but I'm sort of hoping Mr Teapot's proposal was a joke too. The bizarre logic of it for some reason reminded me of a friend of mine who couldn't decide which of the 5 acts to vote for on a reality TV show, so resolved it by phoning in votes for all of them.

Dumb question, but what's the new points system that Bernie is consideing for next year? I heard about it while watching the race.

Gold, silver, bronze medals given to the drivers at each race, drivers championship ranked like the Olympic tables everywhere, but America.
