There is a great video on YT, that I can't find right now, that shows some of the problems of North American tracks scheduling. But Montreal and Miami should totally be back to back.

admittedly a hamilton fan, but vettel brought that penalty on himself. not only did he let himself get pressured into a mistake, he intentionally squeezed hamilton into the wall when he rejoined the track. it's the same offense he committed in monza 2019 when he clipped stroll, lewis was just smart enough to back out and avoid contact rather than end up with a dnf. is it a shame it affected the championship? sure. but the mistakes were vettel's, not the stewards

Vettel and making mistakes under pressure, name a more iconic duo :whistling:

I think mid-May is perfect for Montreal. This year temperature was over 30°C on May 12-14. Due to global warming, heat waves are getting more and more probable. Of course 10°C is also possible, but it shouldn't be undrivable.

How about not having the Miami race and replace dreadful Austin with an improved Indy road course a week before Montreal.

Agreed, but only if it's a "multi-class" race with everyone on track. Cars relative speed is reasonable and track is big. Can't be more risky than what IMSA did at Lime Rock.

Edit: no wait, it seems that IMSA does not race multi-class with prototypes at Lime Rock, that would be insane. I've seen it in sim racing only. Leaving it there for posterity

Indycar would be 10s a lap slower, it would be a disaster.

TBH the changes to the Indy track make it worse I think, at least for F1

Indycar does well enough on it but the main changes to it were to remove the long straight and banked corner, which tbh is what F1 needed to get a tow for the only place on track they could overtake.

COTA at least is a place you can pass and had a good few corners copied from other tracks, so it's still a track I look forward to seeing, unlike when we went to Indy

Indy GP track without at least the banked corner is a flat pointless piece of garbage that is an insult to Indy.

Note that this is not incompatible with acknowledging that it provides good racing for Indycars. Elsewhere, it would be fine, but not within the confines of that place and not with disgustingly bypassing the banked turn with a horrible-looking last corner.

yeah that's why I said multi-class. ine winner oer category. I don't mean for them to compete against each other, I'm after chaos and suffering. Traffic and strategy would be interesting to manage for F1s and Indycars alike. They would need to relax blue flag rules to the American way though, to spice it up.

I'd actually look to use more of the oval. Maybe rejoining the track at the middle of the back straight, going all the way into GP turn 1.

imagine someone like Ferrucci blocking Norris, triggering a pile up and then saying he had thought it was O'Ward

Meh. Wet qualifying is hardly ever lottery nowadays, and it's always the same dudes in a back row and front row. Back then when it was a 60-minute session, some drivers might get lucky with their timing, but since now they all go out the same time, the conditions are identical for everyone.
Well, maybe there will be surprising crashes, that is, someone else than Mick or Carlos.

Of course, it might end up being a Sunday qualifying, because these kind of conditions are not allowed anymore.

LeClerc will use his 3rd power unit and 4th Turbo so will get a 10-place grid penalty.
If RBR keeps their car in 1 piece that should be another win for them in the bag and increasing the gap.
