10th race here and not one change to the track. You'd think they'd have flattened out the cambers and changed corner radii at least.

It's one of those tracks that seems enjoyable-but-crap in relation to the drivers and the actual racing. I enjoy it in the games, but there's definitely no relation between tracks that are good to hotlap and tracks that are good to watch.

See also: Imola.

I'd rather watch Imola a thousand times over Yas Marina.

Imola has that awesome italian atmosphere. Also, proper chicanes (last GP layout)

Didn't she break her legs in that crash? I think that's a very serious crash.

Well then I take back the semi...

But yeah, impact was never shown because it's a black hole in the TV coverage, they're not going to put cameras there because no-one ever goes in there...

Imagine something like the Verstappen/Ricciardo crash happening in that runoff and not being filmed...

And please don’t talk about semis, those are mental images of you no one needs

Very cool press conference, I loved the rookie/veteran/veteran/rookie setup in both interviews.

Abu Dhabi delivered its best entertainment for the whole week-end, and it happened on Thursday.

The rules say that their number has to be visible on the side of the car and their helmet, so there's a loophole for the nose... kinda ironic given the history of F1.

He asked to run the 1 on the nose and they gave him permission because it's good for Facebook clicks probably.

Kubica is currently last, Stroll is 15th. I hope it's just some rust he needs to clear out after months in the simulator.

Meanwhile, the thermal camera has made a welcome return.

I find interesting that Mercedes didn't obliged him to run the car #1 after all these years

The rules should force the champion to have number 1.

It just... makes sense. Say you don't follow F1 much, someone drags you in front of the TV or to a race. You see that guy, right over there, yeah that guy with the "1" on his car? That's the guy to beat. He's the champion. When people don't know much about a sport, they cheer for the champion. Otherwise it's just some rando showing off with a golden helmet.

The above may or may not be random rambling non-sense. Does it still make a lot more sense than this Grand Prix? Yes it does.

They stole the idea from MotoGP. Rossi is 46, and 46 is Rossi. And Rossi ain't going to drive around with anything but 46, even if he is champion.

when Valentino Rossi moved to Yamaha I thought it was because Honda bothered a lot with him racing only with the 46

back when I first played Nascar Racing 2 (the one from 1996 season) I also thought that Rick Mast was the winston cup champion because he raced the 1 haha

It's all about Branding™. Teams and drivers can register trademarks for their registered number - note how they usually have their own distinctive style along with the number itself - but the right to #1 isn't perpetual and so isn't as easy to protect.

For me, I thought it was Steve Park from when I first played Nascar 99 for the PS1 lol

When I watch NASCAR I still think the 20 is Tony Stewart.

Some things just stick in your memory, others fade away.

Cant remember anyone to have actually found a barrier here apart from Rosberg in 2012,but that was also because of a slow HRT.

Not the same thing, but I would like to see some stars around the numbers of the cars, just like in football, representing the titles of that driver. Perhaps a different color for a star could show that driver is the reigning champion.
