get rid of all the electronics (bar safety gear) and leave the cars only with the kill switch at hand for drivers

classic racing in a classic track

There were plans to alter the first chicane. They wanted to increase the length of the s/f-straight so that the first chicane would have been at the Curva Grande. Does anybody know what happened to the plans?

never heard of this, but one thing i know is the track is in the middle of a green protected area, every time they have to cut down a single tree is a complete mess

I thought that was primarily for bike racing with a potential consideration for cars.

I'm sure no rider wants to experience highside on that kink heading to the chicane

If memory serves me right, the bike version of the updated Monza still used the prima variante and then used the new chicane mid-way through the "new" curva grande.

EDIT - in fact I'm wrong about bikes using the prima variante - http://www.racingcircuits.info/pro/news ... superbikes

Might skip the F1 race (unless it rains).

Support races should be decent.

For the first time in my life I'll be in the same country on race day, but unfortunately still a bit too far away from Monza.

Hopefully it'll be a better race than we're expecting.

So looks like FP1 and FP2 are definitely wet -> no action on the track.
Saturday is currently uncertain. Probably dry during the qualifying.
Sunday is sunny and boring. -> 0/10 race.

Also, 1,2 l/100km, that's quite a lot of oil burning. Sure F1 engines have high compression ratios and are high performing etc. but that's nearly 4 litres of oil burning in every race and about 10 litres for the weekend. And these engines are here to be more eco than V8s. :slaphead:

I guess this has to do with HCCI technology, they're also most probably injecting oil into the pistons.
Between this and Ferrari's 3D printed pistons, it shows that the FIA could force teams to use just 2 engines per year, they would still find a way to spend insane amounts of cash.

Verstappen has an issue with the car floor. And most likely it will start raining before it's fixed.

Now: Blue skies and sun is shining.

The way they go wide at Parabolica is just ridiculous. Getting rid of the grass and gravel there was an utterly stupid idea.
