Failure was caused by that massive lock up by Perez. Burned through the tread.

Now we wait for the lapped cars to gain a lap back for no reason and to add a couple more laps to the Safety Car. Why can't they just move them to the back of the queue? NASCAR is more capable.

I heard somewhere the timing system wouldn't cope with doing that. 8O

Don't know how true that is.

At the very least, they could allow the lapped drivers to ignore the delta - presumably they wouldn't be allowed through until the track was clear in the first place, so there's no safety risk.
