Well Xmas is a special time of the year and what better way to celebrate it!

Is that notable Welsh drink-driver and poor Elvis impersonator Shakin' Stevens?

JA was quite emotional when he picked up the Moment of the Year Award at the Autosport Awards. Brundle was full of praise for JA and said he'd get the Norfolk Mafia onto those who criticise him

Saw BBC's sport in 2009 trailer and it looks as if they will have recent footage in the F1 intro.

I think ITV may have been able to in '97 but just decided not to for some reason :o

And I remember seeing that trailer as early as Boxing Day, which was still 2008. I assumed ITV's rights ran until 31st December 2008 so was slightly puzzled by that.

Some clues given re: BBC coverage.

You mean that they're going to be "following Lewis Hamilton every kilometre of every circuit as he defends his world championship" or the "fantastic range of online and interactive services to support our tv and radio F1 programming"?

So the BBC is going to be a Lewis ass-licking channel then?

Well if their website coverage is anything to go by, yes

I've been saying since the day the BBC revealed they'd got the contract - I think a lot of people will be disappointed by the BBC. I can see people whinging after only a couple of races and rose-tinting about ITV

I've got a jump start on the lot of you in that respect. I've been doing that since the Belgian GP.

Yay for pessimism!

I'm actually prepared to put up with generally worse coverage due to the fact we can now watch each session.

Practice sessions aren't particularly interesting. The new rules might change this hopefully.

Not unless the BBC decide to start having ad breaks I won't.

Correction, if they bring back Jonathan Palmer, that would probably do it actually.

Surely having Jake Humphrey is worse than JP

I don't know, I can't really imagine what Humphrey will be like, I just can't picture him doing it at all. I thought he was an odd choice, but we'll see.

Based on some of the things I've been reading elsewhere I think the BBC Coverage should be OK.

The Interactive coverage is looking good & is obviously already a step-up from what ITV have been giving us, the lack of Ad-Breaks & the addition of Practice sessions add's to that.

Im reasonably happy with the selection of the Broadcast team, they have kept the 2 best people from ITV (Brundle & Kravitz) & added some fairly knowledgeable people with people like DC, Eddie Jordan & Lee McKenzie.

Im not necisarily expecting the BBC's coverge to be the best coverage ever, however I definately think it will be a significant improvement over ITV's coverage over the past few seasons.

Why? Even if we all end up hating Humphrey, he'll be easily ignored by just tuning in 5 minutes before the start of the race/qualy...

If they brought Palmer back, then there'd be no avoiding him throughout the race!

The BBC will have no adverts and no Allen, so it's already a massive improvement before you take into account such things as practice sessions and red button coverage.
Anyone rose tinting about ITV's "Hello" Magazine level of coverage will be promptly shot by me!

Well as long as the coverage is more comprehensive (more sessions covered), no ads break, then I'll personally go with that channel even if they have the worst commetary team possible in the world.

BBC would have permission & access to all the FOCA footage from recent years presumebly

Any word on whether they'll use 'the chain'??

I think this (the usage of the chain) has been confirmed multiple times by now. It's just a question of how they have possibly altered the song with a more modern touch. I sincerely hope not... but be afraid, be very afraid.
