I believe that if more people start pleading for less races then F1 will ditch almost all european events and turn the race selection into a big auction for those who want to pay more to host a race

or perhaps big oil countries could purchase the naming rights and the Abu Dhabi GP to be hosted at Spa, the Qatar GP at Nürburgring and so on

So, F1 released a report on the findings of that recent fan survey. I went straight to their conclusion for the sprint races.

Quote:
Sprint races are viewed as having marginally improved the F1 show but fans do not want them introduced at every race

This looks a bit different than the success portrayed by people like Domenicalli for sure.

Cant wait for them to twist and turn the results and still force it upon us.

Fans: "We don't want more sprint races"
F1: "What's that? You say you do want more sprint races?"
Fans: "No, we don't"
F1: "Are you sure? Because I swear it sounded like do"
Fans: "DON'T! DON'T!"
F1: "lol im gonna pretend you said do. MORE SPRINT RACES, BAY-BAY!!!"

That word "improved" is all they need, forget the word marginally in front of it.

I expect to see this quote on formul1.com "F1 is proud to say that the fans have voted and that they agree. Sprint Races improve the spectacle. Based on an overwhelming response to the improved spectacle F1 is proud to announce that every race will feature a Sprint Race. The Crown Jewel of those being the Monaco GP."

After review of the 2022 season and per fan survey our fans massively said it improved racing therefor we will add sprint races to the sprint races and replace practice with more sprint races. To top it off the feature race will be split up into 3 sprint races

what bugs me off is that they keep pushing sprint races, but not a single mention for reverse grids

at last, what is a little fart when you're all screwed of shit around you?

Reverse grids were a smokescreen to push sprint races.

The same report said fans in general percieve reverse grids a gimmick that should be avoided

We tried reverse grids at a local kart event once. It's a pretty good idea, if you despise human lives and have unlimited budget for equipment.

Do reverse grids but make the decision random and after qually is completed. Everyone still goes 100% in qually not knowing if the grid will be reversed or not. I'd love to see how many places Mazepin could lose in just one lap lol

or better, make reverse grids and put everyone who drove slow on purpose on the back of the grid anyway

Reverse driver's championship position. The only way you can make it a real reverse grid.

And we could also get a midfield team with a one-off rookie, just for the sake of starting in front.

They kinda did this back in the one-lap qualy days, but only for pre-qualy which set the running order for the main session. Championship leader got on track first, which was supposed to be a disadvantage.

Not only the pace difference between cars was enough to offset any track advantage in the pre-session, but even then, the second qualy session usually brought things back to normal.

Actually those one-lappers brought less qualy surprises than we had this year. Shows that all you need is a close competitive field, not quirky formats, if you want excitement.

not sure why some believe fewer races are better. in my mind, more tracks allows for us to have the traditional european tracks while adding new venues and markets at the same time. more races during a season also allows for opportunity to create drama during the championship

overall, i feel liberty has taken steps in the right direction to improve the sport. has every decision been a slam dunk? of course not. but i feel more positively about the state of formula 1 now then i ever did under the leadership of max and bernie

Quality over Quantity.

If you want to give more tracks a spot maybe rotate them. One year we go to place A and the next year to place B and the year after back to A. etc etc

And personally it messes with statistics too much. Patrese held the record for most race starts (256 for a while covering a career of almost 20 years in F1. Verstappen's career is about 1/4th of that but already 136 starts.
Same for points btw. Also messes up statistics.

One can argue that the 16 races/year also messes with statistics of the early da7s (7-8 races/year) but 16 does feel like a sweet spot for me.
Not too many but enough to make it exciting.

That´s funny, because everyone explained why they had that opinion. You can disagree with it, that´s something else.

I'd be up for more races, if they got a bit shorter and were done mainly in Europe, and not in the middle east

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
