You know, I hope something does happen during the race. Not people getting hurt, but just enough of a problem to stick it to Bernie.

Yes, he's done so much for the sport, and it could fall apart without him, but he's a monumental greedy penis. Screw him.

FIA declares race will happen. People blame Bernie.

Another day on TBK Light. But then again, it proves the FIAs bullshit statement works. They decide if the race happens or not, but they take no responsibility for it. Jean Todt has this one made.

Which would mean (with or without "Bernie") the end of Formula 1 for quite a long while

Kind of a reason for that. He sets up the calendar. He invited Bahrain onto the calendar. He has spent the past 6 months trying his best to convince everyone that there will be no problems, not for financial concerns because Bahrain have already paid the fee (Bernie's own words), but because he genuinely wants the race on the calendar. He is throwing thousands of people unnecessarily into what will likely become a battleground for no good reason. Sure, the track may be safe and protected, but I don't think the teams are going to sleep on the floors of their garages.

The FIA has no concrete proof that there are problems with law and order, because the Bahraini authorities won't let them gather it. So they can't cancel on the grounds of safety. They also can't cancel on the grounds of force majeure because there are none, short of 'we don't like what the government are doing', which would violate the FIA's political neutrality. Which therefore leaves one option, and they followed it through last night.

Of course, Bernie won't be putting his neck on the line. He'll be in London next Sunday.

MTV3 crew will stay in Finland...apparently they'll have some live audience show instead of pre-race interviews :yuk:
Dunno if it's wise decision after all.
I predict we'll see some phantom SC and Red Flag periods, as if there would be a reason but which isn't told truthfully or shown by cameras.

The BBC isn't live next weekend, so not travelling wouldn't surprise me. So far it's Austrian TV (Orf?), Japanese TV (FujiTV) and as JJ said, MTV3.

Sky is going, they said that on the F1 Show today.

Sky can protect themselves, they've shown that they've got the muscle during the first few events.

Comentators from Globo haven't been traveling to GPs outside Europe for some time. It won't be this time. I don't know about the reporter they usually send, nothing has been said about. But considering the general comments among Brazilian journalists, they don't seem to be willing to avoid to cover the even in case it happens.

Nice, cheap tickets for Austin

Looks like Tavo might have to take the Istanbul approach if the prices are that high.

lol, sounds so lame

Quote:
Besides watching the cars scream by at over 180 mph (290 km/h) during the race, the fans will also witness amazing pit stop action where the skilled crew members swarm around the car and change all four tires in a mere three to four seconds. Looking left, fans can see the cars exiting out of the final turn, set against the skyline of the city of Austin on the horizon, and onto the Main Straight. At the end of the race, those in the Main Grandstand will see the checkered flag being waved for the inaugural winner of the race, and then they can share in the podium celebration as the national anthems of the winning driver and team are played. Next the top three finishers receive their trophies and then spray champagne on the podium.

Helmund has had nothing to do with the project since January, he was sidelined by his two business partners.

Oh hasn't he? Apologies, I missed that one. Still, my point - Tavo or no Tavo - is still valid.

Oh, yeah, it's fucking ridiculous, I made a similar point when the idea was first mooted a couple of months back.

The good news is that Tavo and his former associates are subject to a shotgun clause in their ownership of the company that controls the circuit; by May, one of them has to buy the other out.

A car bomb has gone of at Manama this week, injuring 7 police officers, three of them are in critical condition.

The only reason Bernie is still saying that the race is going to happen is because they are not racing on a street course.

I bet that the teams are not going there.

A slightly charred Citroen C4 with a damaged front?

You sure it didn't belong to an S. Ogier of France?

Anyway, I'm still not convinced this will go ahead. I think the teams will put their foot down.

Didn't Francois Duval do that to a Citroen?

I would hope the teams put their foot down, we all know Bernie isn't going to go there.

Yes but he did it in a Xsara and being nerdy I didn't want to be wrong.

Anyway, yes, Bernie will be at the London Marathon next Sunday. I still think there's time for teams to do something, but they need to collaborate. There was fresh violence today...
