Raidillon grandstand to be achieved in April. They mention the new run-off there will be tarmac, with gravel to come back at la Source, les Combes, Pouhon (they call it 'double-left' for some reason - amateurs ), Stavelot, and bus stop.
I also call it "double left" in Dutch, "dubbele linkse". Is more easy on the tongue than Pouhon.

And the corners after Pouhon are officially named Des Fagnes, but everyone calls them Pif Paf.
Corner 10 is Rivage, also known as Bruxelles, also known as the 180 degree.

so nice when corners have names. Back in the old Interlagos there was the sargento corner, because a police sargeant that made track security used to take his car to turn some laps and everytime at the designated corner spun off

at Monaco some commentators used to call Loews as "the former gare corner"

Bruxelles is an interesting name because it seems to be the only holdover from the very first races with the new circuit (pre-Bus Stop), where every new corner was named after a European capital with the exception of what is now Stavelot, which was named Liege.

There is a map from Motorsport Magazine showing the names here; https://forums.autosport.com/topic/2134 ... try8864852

It's unfortunate that "Pif-Paf" is a real motorsport term in French, used specifically for chicanes that are fast kinks in succession. Example, the first swimming pool, the chicane at Indianapolis road course before back straight, etc... Les Fagnes is not that sort of chicane, it's mid-speed and long and flowing, so I reject wholeheartedly the new denomination :p

In all cases, it seems that corner names are increasingly ignored and numbers used instead, even for legacy tracks :(

France is pushed towards the end of July, dunno if that's gonna change the weather there

I assume this means Melbourne will never get it's season opening date back tbh, something they've wanted to do since the Bernie days

Obviously because they can sell it for more money to those in the middle east.....

Imola to Miami, and then back to Barcelona? Doesn't seem to make the most sense, logistically.

Not a bad calendar, but I really wish Abu Dhabi didn't end the season.

I thought Qatar made a 10-year deal?
EDIT: Oh, it seems it will return in 2023. Missed that bit of info.

Surprised they've already assumed won't be on because of Covid, unless the Chinese have said they don't want the race?

Australia to Europe for 1 race, across the pond for 1 race, 2 races in Europe, Baku, then across the pond again. Not exactly efficient.

the bloated calender altogether with another FIA events clashing schedule brings quite a problem to make the whole schedule

if they keep insisting in races outside Europe is better Liberty start opening the pockets to fund better travelling expenses

the teams probably negotiated this kind of stuff in the new concorde agreement that went into effect this year. the teams get more money (and it's more evenly distributed) while agreeing to an expanded schedule

My thoughts exactly. There could be a lot to win financially and environmentally by optimizing the calendar in regards of traveling

Why wouldn't it? The vaccine rollout is almost done (for 16+), there's no further strategies for covid suppression other than to tell the unvaccinated to stay the fuck away. There's nothing left to do for community health, and Dan knows every major event next year needs to go ahead to hold on to what reputation we have left as a major events hub.
