His father in law paid for most of it but his results in previous series aren't that bad. Even won the World series by Renault in 2008.
Not he deserves the seat that much more however.

Yeah but he did spent 3 years in F3 before that with just 1 win. In 2006 he was in the same team as Vettel, Di Resta and while those two fought for the championship, he could barely keep up with them. After his WSR title and his first year in GP2 I actually thought highly of him again, but then he went on to spend 3 years GP2 with mixed results.

He is quite lucky with his backing (just like guys like Ericsson and Nasr), because the results them-self wouldn't had made it possible to spend so many years in junior series and eventually make the step to F1.

Never said he was great ;)
But compared to some drivers who spent more time in F1 (looking at you Max C.) or a certain someone who recently entered a certain driver development program he's not that bad.

Really, it doesn't matter who is in that Sauber car, all 3 drivers are bringing daddy's dough.

Yep, the other two are nothing more than average pay drivers as well.

I'm glad VdG faught for his rights. Arrogant pricks from Sauber thought they could scam him by taking 3 sources of cash and only offering two race seats

Have been in Phoenix for the past couple of days on business, after being a little geeky I discovered my hotel was adjacent to the old GP circuit of 1989-1991. And thanks to a quick conversation with a friendly Belgian (hi Tobias ) it turns out that today is the 25th anniversary of the Senna and Alesi battle of 1990. Here are a couple of the photos I took...

Looking up Jefferson Ave standing close to turn 1.

Standing on the outside of turn 1 looking towards turn 2.

I've got a few more of turns 7-8 (of 1991 version) and Washington Ave (back straight), I'll upload them at a later time.

The area has been largely redeveloped over the past 25 years. There are tramlines everywhere, which means the roads are a lot narrower than they were during the GPs. A few buildings, including a major sports venue, have popped up and actually sit on parts of what were the course. But the area is pretty nice and very clean, but there isn't much to do downtown, as it is a business district.

:Edit I tried the quiz again 24 hours later and I got 51 lol, with no help. But I had a hard time after 30 lol

Plz copy indycar. One thing they're actually very good at is extra content (FOR FREE) on their youtube the day after a race.

In Car Theatre, best overtakes, best pitstops etc.

Formula E shows the FIA know how to work this too, maybe they've been using it as a trial, youtube wise?

can't believe they kept that horrible layout(the one seen on the beta site I posted before). It's so uglier and much harder to navigate on :yuk:

Fucking FOM twats, untill some hours ago(checked 2014 dry FP3 to guess pole time for this year), I could access the previous site's results section as in:
http://www.formula1.com/results/season/2007/784/6449/

Now it's offline and the new idiotic site only have race results of 2014(not even practice and qualifying with sector times, speed traps) :x :x :x :x

I'm really really pissed, now all the past data I used to consult, from time to time, is gone

Imbecile FOM people, hope this rubbish series dies so it can, maybe, reborn in a better way.

First world problems ITT

So, we can't complain about relatively minor problems, anymore? Imo, one can't say it's an inappropriate complain just because it doesn't involve life and death or the end of the world situation

Why change something that was great? The previous site was one of the things FOM did very well, now they just fucked it up. Waiting for the actual tv coverage to become worse too

Calling people "fucking twats" and "imbecile people" plus claiming to be "really really pissed" purely because you dislike a website isn't merely complaining about a "relatively minor problem". Like I said, first world problems ITT.

If there was another outlet that presented the same information then I would say yes he is being unreasonable, just go to that other source. When FOM is the only one that officially have that information and make the user experience terrible and have minimal content, don't add/remove content, then militaristically go about removing content from providers who do a better job than them? Then yes they are "fucking twats".

First world problem? Yes it is. Trivial first world problem? Not really, as this is just another example of a large corporation (can substitute that with a government if it floats your boat) treating the people who support it like shit, and it is reasonable to complain about it. Obviously Artur Craft has taken it more to heart than you and I.

Considering our knowledge and experience of FOM we shouldn't be surprised or shocked that this has happened. This company is well known to milk as much money out of the sport and it's fans. To behave like someone has massively insulted a deceased grandmother is grossly OTT. It is disappointing for sure, but that doesn't mean it is not trivial.

Meh, F1 is just following the modern corporate website trend to have a more panel oriented feeling and a more simpler, graphical approach (which usually includes reducing the actual content  )

It doesn't make sense from a desktop perspective but it makes perfect sense from a mobile / tablet perspective.

They'll probably be a new trend in a few years if you don't like this one. :)

Post subject:  Re: 2015 Random F1 Discussion Thread

It used to be so simple. I came home earlier, eager to see the results, all I had to do in the past was to click on the session of my choice in the right banner and get the full results (also, I had the starting time of each session in my local time).

I had to design a webpage at school once, and we were basically told that the most valuable/important content - that which the user is there for - should literally punch you in the face.

So because I'm the generic casual lazy-ass website user, I gave up after two clicks, went on Google, and took the first fan-site that had the results posted directly.

Back in my day I turned on the tv, went to the BBC and checked the Ceefax for F1 news and results.... :beard:

we didn't have that intermewebthingy to see results
