Isn't cocaine or heroin giving you the idea you're invincible or something like that?

That would help I reckon. Taking away the fear of getting hurt might give that little bit extra you need.

I think most drivers have mastered over coming that by they time they reach the big time

Kamui Kobayashi made some moves that others didn't dare

That's what I meant to say... Most of the fear is gone but it still is some sort of a factor. We probably all have driven some sort of racing game or simulator. We can take that extra bit of risk because if we crash hard we load the last save-file.

Yes, I read that in a magazine back when they started testing drivers (in 1999).

In fact, these drugs can enhance reflexes and ability. However, no doctor will ever endorse that, because the over-confidence it provides will inevitably lead to crashes, so it's a definite no-no given the danger vs the small speed benefit it might give.

Regarding Maldonado, I don't think anything will change. Unless PDVSA is privatised and the new owners decide to change their racing involvment, but that isn't happening any time soon (or else, massive rioting).

regarding possible question marks over Maldonado's career after H. Chavez's passing. I understand payment had to be upfront. So he should be okay for this season at least.

Also, I find Maldonado to be underrated. He is very agressive and unlikeable, but possibly the most talented pay-driver I have seen driving.

There's no faulting his speed - his race-craft and ideology have been questionable a good few times, but I don't think there are any questions about his speed ... he even started keeping his nose clean towards the end of last year (and I don't think he was to blame for the incident with Webber) which if he continues doing and doesn't lose the speed, could make him a really good driver, as well as a very quick one as he is now.

I see no problems for Maldonado this year regarding his funding. But we have to wait and see the next venezuelan elections, that may happen within a month, to try to figure out what is going to happen with the whole PDVSA funding for venezuelan drivers.

James Hunt would be so fucked if he raced nowadays and had to run those tests...

Don't mean to start yet another DRS debate, But there will be 2 DRS zones at every track apart from Monaco & Suzuka this year.
http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2013/03/06/b ... es-2013-2/

Looking through some of the locations for the new zones, Why do we need a DRS zone into turn 1 at Austin? There was plenty of great racing & overtaking there last year!

One down the start/finish straght at Interlagos, Why?

Yeah, I don't get why those massive straights need DRS really. I've already said that I'd prefer free use and every driver getting a set usage, such as in FR3.5.

Hungaroring Pit straight Pit straight and second straight

I guess they mean that uphill section, where Massa had the crash? Or do they mean the 'straight' right after the first turn?

Sepang should be fun.

It's the straight after T1.

That's a simple drive by down the straight at Interlagos then. Why? Sigh.

Because Kimi's move on Schumacher was potentially dangerous. /FIA

Formula 1 has already been linked to Dr. Fuentes by someone who knows what they are talking about, so it's not surprising to see the WADA suddenly get off their arses with regards to F1.

Formula 1 currently does not have it's own list of banned substances; it simply copy and pastes the IOC list. It was Sid Watkins who said that the IOC list was not suitable for the job (as there are substances on there which would not do anything for F1 drivers), and that the FIA needed to come up with its own list.

It's a good point from the late dr. Watkins, but since it's been over a decade without any actions what so ever, I think it would be better to go as the things are. I'd hate to see when the levee breaks with F1 doping-scandals from the past in a Lance Armstrong style. I'd rather be in denial or unaware...like Norwegians are with their 90's skiing legends.

i wonder what would have happened if half of the grid resulted positive to the tests. WC starting in a week and a half. Half of the teams without drivers. Without drivers you dont have their sponsor paying. Withouy sponsors you dont have money. without money you dont have F1. So? massive cover up?

Like all other sports.....The lit has been blown in Cycling...Once that shitstorm has passed wait until the next sport will cause the next shitstorm.

Again, an F1 is not a bicycle. Driving under influence leads to damage and injury, no matter the drug.

It's good to control the drivers (for their own sake!), but any potential cheaters know they're better off trying to tweak the mechanic rather than the human inside.

Wouldn't it just be treated like a driver injury depending on the punishment?
