Like Felipe did?

Well yeah, but as a team it's a disappointing result. 3rd and 10th is way below what they should have got.

Although if it's true that Alonso had a problem you can ignore all of this.

Alonso didnt wanted to qualify ahead in the grid, so he can avoid being taken out like in the last race

Yeah...

I'd also like to see a different approach to this gearbox penalty. I really hate a driver getting penalised for something in the car breaking. Penalties for your own fuckery, yes, granted. But this is just irritating.

And before anyone says it's because it's di Resta, it isn't. I personally rate Hulkenberg more, even though they're both very good

A problem on Fernando's car prevented him to fight for pole: a real shame...

Even with a poor lap Alonso should be quicker than all but Massa, the Mclarens and Di Resta. Everyone else was miles off this weekend.

Passing the Mercedes will be a real pain for Alonso tomorrow if everyone is 1 stopping. Can't see the Top 3 changing. A shame for Force India also. Top 3 car around this track but they start 9th and dead last.

just usual business from them

This will be Q grid order: Lewis, Alonso, Button, Massa, DiResta, Rosberg, Hulk, Perez, Kimi, Maldonado, Webber, Vettel, Schumi, Koba, Senna, Ricci, Vergne, Belgian guy(out in Q1), Heikke, Petrov, Timo, Pic, PDLR, Narain :p

:o

If it wasn't for the trouble Alonso had, I would get Top 5 in correct order, considering Alonso's Q1 would already give him P2 there :p

Sounds as if James has had a bit of a run from the commentary box to the interview room

According to Speed, Vettel won his first race for Red Bull "sponsored" Torro Rosso at Monza in 2007...

...oh boy.

Whitmarsh just made some odd Ferrari bashing statements on German TV.

He thinks Ferrari tried to orchestrate a run with Massa producing drag for Alonso and screwed that up on their last attempt. Then he added that he wouldn't have been able to convince his own drivers to try something like that but that Ferrari has more control over their drivers than he does.

Should be interesting to see Alonso fight through the field tomorrow.

I'm convinced a huge part of the reason why F1 hasn't kicked off in America properly is the totally shit coverage. From those paddock passes I've watched, I mean, I like them as a little jovial thing but if that represents most of the coverage then I feel sorry for you!

I'm with Damon's idea, points lost in the constructors championship instead.

This is exactly what I think also. Once Q3 was finished they also said this was McLaren's first pole at Monza since 2008.... errrmmm.....

Having left UK 2 years back and having been spoilt by the ever increasing quality of the coverage on offer by BBC, ITV then back to BBC, Speed is just poor by comparison. They talk about irrelevant points, the accuracy of the details they discuss is completely off and the analysis is cringeworthyling bad. I'm not even approaching your friend Will Buxton yet, because the less said about him the better.

Ha, Will's not my friend :p I just like his style. But I guess I see it in little bits. If it was him all the time, I'd get driven insane. I did hear him get described by another journalist as "a lunatic"

That's the thing with F1. Yes, more fans are better, but you need decent TV coverage. It's come a hell of a long way in 20 years for example. But the UK and - I think - Germany is so far ahead. Other countries lag behind and should come up to the same level.

If SPEED would air it without commercials that would help I think. But let's face it, that's never going to happen :p

Or he might crash the exit of Ascari and create a massive clusterfuck, he had a big moment there in Q2 IIRC.

It's okay. He's at the back. It's not like the last big Monza start crash happened when an aggressive guy at the back got out of control. Nope.

Hopefully he'll go off their on his own on the warm up lap, ala Coulthard in 1995 (minus creating carnage behind).
